Hi. Asking on behalf of a friend actually. He's looking to build a gaming rig, but has a budget of only $1k. Is it possible? Or should he increase the budget? Thanks.

Preferably gigabyte mobo with i7, gigabyte r9 270x as the distro is more accessible. No need ssd.

GTX760? Heard that it is not best value for money anymore, now its the R9 280X? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm using the Dell 2340L for my personal rig. Not bad. Got it at a reasonable price.

I built my itx.
i5-4570 + msi h81 + cm130 chassis = $460
240gb Samsung evo ssd = $206
500gb toshiba hdd = $63
8gb kingston ram = $82
Cm 500w psu = $60

Now left gfx, any good recommendations?

Sorry man,didn't mean to. Just that I am in the midst of a mid level gaming rig too, just needed a good gfx recommendation within the budget!

A decent card would be 760. Not sure if 7870 myst can play at high settings or nt.

You can go get the EVGA 760 SC w/ ACX cooler at US$259 ~ S$336. Got free games i believe. See you want local set or not.
