Advice for small form PC

Hi all,

I am now using an Intel i5-2500@3.3 gHz and am planning an upgrade.

I would like advice on building a small form factor PC. Wasn't able to find much info on it--most are sold by brands like Asus...but I am concerned about its "upgradability", and would prefer to build my own.

Any advice on casing, motherboard, chip, cooling system, power supply?
I am planning a NAS at the same time, so some SSD would do just fine for me.

Main usage: Microsoft office/photoshop/visual studio/video/blueray-DVD
Main concern: stability/quietness followed by performance

so u mean that u want to reuse your sandy brigde cpu to make into a SFF pc?

den how SFF pc u want??? slim,cube or atx case??? normally its itx use for sff but u dun have any rooms for more upgrades to go with. (even if u go with skylake as well as sff pc normally doesn't have a lot of rooms to upgrade, beside adding rams and more hdd.) unless u dun mind slightly bigger by going matx. still have some rooms to upgrade but still isnt much.

next NAS still best that u just get those NAS from those reputable company like synology, qnap. (better energy saver and more stable)

ITX is pretty much the smallest you can go without incurring extreme huge costs for niche parts. (Current ITX mobo costs around the same as normal mobo)

Then as for upgradability, up to you. You want a 10 litre case, or a 3 litre case, or a 20 litre case

stability normally no issues.

heat will have some performance issues unless u consider of opting for 3rd party cooler. but consider the task u are doing, it shouldn't have any heat issues.
