Advice for Travel Camera

Hello, looking for some recommendations for a travel camera. Currently looking at tough/waterproof cameras so would like to get a recommendation for this category.


This camera is meant for all-purposes, and I don't have any intention to specifically bring it underwater etc. Reason why I'm looking at this category of cameras is, when I spend quite a lot of a certain gadget, I usually have this compulsion to take really good care of it - I probably wont want to use it if my hands are dirty, if there's a risk of it getting wet/dirty when rafting/at the beach etc. Thus, I've been re-considering my decision of getting a mirrorless camera. Tough cameras as I understand are durable, and easy to clean (washable under a tap, can wipe with light detergent).


From the tough cameras range across all brands, if I were only more particular about photo quality (landscape, casual, street photography, a little bit of night), which model would be the best to get right now?

i go for Nikon 1 AW110.. for its sensor size and interchangeable lens.

afaik... there are no differences in sensor size for other tough cameras, so not much different in IQ.

Based on my experience, definitely not a dslr! Some people bring dslr to overseas and I can say it's really heavy! Gears i'm using - Canon 60D, 24-70L USM 2.8. I've no experience besides dslr so I would just say not to get a dslr haha!

For tough/waterproof cameras with good picture quality, the Olympus Tough series has gotten highest marks. Just look at the reviews on dpreview where they did a waterproof camera roundup.
