Hi all,

I have an existing pc desktop with the following specs:

Intel 3.0ghz Core2Duo E8400
Gigabyte Ep45-UD3
MSI 2GB N610 LP DDR3 PCI-E
Team Xtreem Dark DDR800 2x2GB GL-4
WD 320GB SATA2 HDD
Seasonic M12II Evo Edition 520w mod Psu
LG 22x SATA DVDRW
CM 690 ATX chasis
Wins Vista

I intend to retain my PSU,DVDRW,HDD and GPU and CM690 as they are still in good working conditions, and change the rest of the components with a budget not exceeding $500.

I will be using this rig for simple internet usage such as family websurfing, watch youtube etc.

Have been out of touch with the updates on custom build desktop for quite some time and i am currently doing research on hwz as well. Would appreciate it if any bro can advise me the specs which i can look to upgrade and whether i can still reuse my cm690. Thanks alot.

Thanks bro for your reply.
Forgot to mention that the reason why i am thinking to change my cpu and mobo is becos my pc would power cycle on (few sec) and off repeatedly when i turn on psu switch. But when i remove the psu cable linking to the cpu, the power cycle issue disappeared. Hence i think it might be the cpu issue.

Faced a similar situation recently and eventually chose below parts for a skylake build
Chose skylake cos wanted to go with DDR4 Ram for future parts

MSI B150m Mortar $179
Intel i3 6100 $178
Kingston DDR4 value ram 8gb $63

Total: $420

Samsung 850 Evo 250gb SSD $129

Prices are videopro on qoo10 list prices bought during a $100 off $500 coupon promo so better prices now may be found sls/ lazada
