Thanks dude! Anyway, how do you check bottle necking of PSU?
What are your opinions on Audio engine A5+? Worthy for the price? Hehe.

Bottlenecking ram not PSU. Why do you want to get the A5+? It's 550+ a pair. I'm using it.

For PSUs, we don't really use the term 'bottleneck' haha. PSU logic is simple, if the supplied power is not enough, you will find that your com shuts down randomly when it is in use.

For bottlenecks, normally what we want to focus on are the cpu, gpu and rams. If one of the component is working like a bull (100%) while the others are not (for eg utilising 10-60% only), the 'bull' is the bottleneck that restricts better performance. This is a norm when you pair up the best gpu with a lacklustre cpu or vice versa.

*Haha I am not really an audiophile so I can't really give you any comments with regards to your audio engine qns.

Cheers.

HAHAHA, looks like I got my terms wrong! I got the speakers already, I really love the sound quality this desktop speakers give man.

However, I was advised to get the AE DAC 1, from your pov, should I? As I'm currently depending on a onboard sound card from my B85 plus MOBO.

Thanks for the spontaneous and consistent reply bro! Can I feedback good about you somewhere? Hahahaha!

Surprisingly, after all these enlightening. I'm sticking to my current build, probably change the GPU only as I am running on the dual monitor, my current 1gb like not enough esp on premiere playbacks.

So how do I check the estimation of my current usage of the PSU? I was advised not to put so many storage drives as it is not recommended, then I was like thinking whats the point of cases manufacturers making so many drive bays?

There are curently several websites online which offer 'power supply calculators' and they also do provide an info table for quite a number of brands of PSUs. If you are asking for a software meter/real time gauge, not of any that I have known of. In general, 500w-650w gold efficiency power supply is the norm and definitely capable of handling most, if not all single gpu systems. If you have not experienced the random shut downs I talked about previously, most probably your PSU is fine. Personally for me, I would go for brands like seasonic, corsair etc for their PSUs. There are a couple of new threads here with regards to PSUs, do check them out.

As for your 2nd question, the components that will consume high power in general are the cpu, gpu and sometimes the mobo and sata blueray/dvd drive. Contrary to your belief, hard drives and ram are very low power consumers! If you want to even lower the power consumption of your hard drives, go for ssds/2.5" type of hd instead of those 3.5" type. The reason most cases today provide plenty of drive bays is because some people prefer to do raiding of multiple drives for performance improvement, especially when they need to handle read write data of humongous sizes. Even when one is not raiding, aesthetically it is also neater to house multiple internal hard disks than to have multiple external hard disks lying around together with those usb cables haha (not to mention about the hassle to 'plug & play'). Having more internal hard disks will also mean that you have freed up more usb ports. I do believe that quite a number of these extra drive bays are removable- if you do not need them/need to install a very long gpu card.

Cheers.

Thanks bro for the tips, I went to check my Watts consumption and I'm using around 500W only, so my current 625w suffice. True that, but I don't think I will have a very long GPU.

Btw do you happen to know why my current startup is much slower than be4? Its like the loading page at windows is around 5s long when I am using a SSD (Adata SX900 512GB).

Very appreciative of your responses, you are very to share your knowledge. Haha.

Whoa.. the boot time delay question might be a lil too vague for me to answer as there can be a lot of contributing factors haha. I can try to help you with what I know as of now.

Before that, I would like you to perform some checks. When you start up your rig, go to device manager> click on IDE ATA/ATAPI> did you see an acronym called AHCI? (Most probably a yes with modern controllers.) Next, restart your com and go to your bios advance option- do you see the uefi mode fast boot option status is enabled? Then, I will need you to check the amount of free space left in your ssd, and whether or not your wd hard disk is cranky (as in very slow read-write times/reaching max capacity/certain files cannot be opened etc). Will need you to post the boot order of all your devices as well (can be seen from bios). Cheers.

Haha, sorry for the vague question.
1. Yes I have the AHCI
2. UEFI Mode is set to enabled
3. Images as below

Thanks dude!

Your pic size is @.@ lol. Nvm abt the image. List down your bios boot order as well as I cannot see the image haha.

Haha, I just realized that too. Sorry!

SSD Leftover space = 328GB
WD HDD Leftover space = 133GB

My HD is working fine, everything transfer very fast too. Btw my OS on SSD.

Here the link for the images in bigger size.

Boot Option #2 = UEFI: Generic
Boot Option #3 = Disabled

Boot override

Hahaha... may I ask if they are external or internal? I believe that your both your plextor and wd are internal, right? Anyways, now I want you to experiment something- unplug the sata cable of your wd and plextor ssd from your mobo (when your com is not power on of course), and turn on your com. What can you observe?

I am assuming that you have not done any firmware/software updates through adata ssd toolbox or any updating to your mobo.

Yeah everything is internal, no external hard disk. Nope, I did not update my ssd or mobo, but I did a driver update for my gpu.

I will try perform that later, and update you.

Do rmb to remove all usb devices as well before you boot up!

Ok. Hmm I have asked you to remove connections of the drives so as to confirm that you have not installed a file that would require a program from another drive and vice versa. It is to also ensure that you are not booting up with any buggy drives that would take a long read time. Ok, after you have booted up, click on the start button> under the seach space> type msconfig> go the the startup tab> uncheck any programs you think you don't really require at startup/might take a long time to start> apply those changes> reboot your com. What do you see?

If there is still no difference, I am afraid to say that it might be ssd itself that is causing the problem. The ssd is not faulty, but as you begin to hit certain gb of % use in terms of capacity, some ssds might experience this slight delay on screen during boot. You might want to check the health status of the ssd if the above fails to rectify the problem but I do believe that the chances of finding any red/bad sectors on your ssd is very low unless you have been using it for many years. Some delays can also happen after driver updates/changes in the startup pogrammes as mentioned previously. Cheers.

from my xp.. on my current rig..

u can check for bad sectors on the hdd and ssd...
that caused my slow boot up to my windows...
after that.. check for ur gfx drivers... u could revert to ur old one..

well but of coz i could be all wrong.

Thanks for the help bro, I can live with it. Maybe I have a lot of startup programs thats why there is some slight delay but nothing major that will affect my user experience.

I think is due to my new gfx drivers but I need that update, previously I did not update my drivers, I keep facing blue screen. Haha.

Good to hear that. Do try out the msconfig method if you want to. Cheers & hope that I have managed to answer some of your questions =).
