Advisable to do this? I installed alr and now whenever I try to reboot, I fail to get to Windows and get prompted by the message "Reboot and select proper device or insert boot media and press any key".

Boot priority can I just set to hard disk and disable every other option?

You install on which SSD or HDD? Yes you can just select the sole OS disk in boot option.

Windows may have install the boot manager into the old hdd. Best is to remove all hdd/ssd and only have your OS hdd/ssd plugged in before installation.
