Advice needed (AMD build)

hey experts,

Wanted to start some study since zen 3 got announced yesterday as im looking to upgrade my existing desktop.

Looking at B550 matx board + a matx casing + ram recommendation.

Is there any advice on a good matx board and casing that can house a GPU (not sure on 6000 series or nvidia, still waiting) + a HDD and thats relatively cool.

id say u cant go wrong with any b550 board, so long as u dont pick the really cheap ones. if i had to choose, id go for msi's mortar.

case wise i would suggest silverstone's ps15rgb (as i always do for matx cases), cheap (comes with 3 fans, 2 of which are rgb), good airflow while being compact, max gpu length of 314mm and has a dedicated hdd rack.

If you have money to spare, go for ASUS or MSI mobo.

Casing would suggest something bigger (eg Corsair/Phanteks/Lian Li) to accomodate the 3000 GPU as most of them are almost 32cm long.

thanks dennis, do you have any specific model in general for the casing?

I am using asrock so far, its been pretty good, lasted me about 9 yuears i think but its an intel board

No prob.

Casing wise, it depends on whether you love aesthetics of your rig. Eg RGB fans. If you love RGB fans like me I will suggest either any of the Corsair Crystal Series or Lian Li PC O11 Dynamic. If not, Corsair Carbide/Obsidian series or Phanteks will do.

Need to know what budget you guys are working with and which form factor your targeting. Full size ATX, mid size, or small form factor ITX.

From this info it’s a lot easier to start recommending parts

Thanks. I'm looking at matx actually. No specific budget as of now (trying to get a gauge) but I don't think I'm going for the highest series given how fast hw changes these days. Likely a 5600x and maybe 3080.

Lian li O11 seems to be a full tower?

32GB is def worth it if you have the extra budget to spare.

Lag is due to low on memory? How sure are you? Even if 8gb isn't enough, 16gb do the job. Alot of tabs like 50+?

- can slot in another SSD (can be sata)
- another HDD (3.5)
- able to put in 6800xt sizing

budget prob 100-200?

Tecware Forge M, most economical and good performance(air cooling). Less than $80 and lower pricing if you choose non rgb model.

cooler master nr400 is another good one, heard good things about it.

Missed out on psu. Do u guys have any rec for psu to support the gpu and cpu?
