Advice Needed for Asus p7p55d-e evo MB

Been using this mb since 2009 and everything seems to be running fine on W8.1 Pro.
Running Core i7-860 at 2.8Ghz (Intel® Socket 1156)
Chipset: Intel® P55 Express Chipset

Motherboards - P7P55D-E EVO

Am using AMD Radeon 5700 series card but driver seems corrupted or maybe card is faulty.
Screen display has black borders all round even though latest drivers installed.
Tried to reinstall drivers but no luck. Sometimes it will normalize but after a short while, the black borders will appear.
97% of time display has black borders

Sometimes watch HD movies (mkv) screen will blackout for few seconds and will show W8.1 log-in screen.
Need to log-in and movie resumes....

What are me options?

1. Reformat and reinstall system OR
2. Replace gfx card to determine if its the culprit OR
3. Replace MB and GFX card
4. Problematic RAM?

try rolling back to a older driver. sometime latest driver even more unstable.

if dun help then reformat. format liao still have problem = 100 % confirm hardware problem

normally graphical issue is cause by GPU, MB, PSU or HHD.

your GPU 5 yr liao alread worth your money liao. can consider a upgrade even if it is not spoil.

what you normally do with this rig? gaming, watch video or surf web?

1. Surfing/Climbing bukit timah - Heavy use
2. Watch Hi def mkv files - Heavy Use
3. Photo Editing - Light i.e. Infrequent
4. MS Office - Medium usage (Word & Excel usually)
5. Gaming - ZERO

Tried rolling back to old driver but black borders still appear
Re-format and install entire system also no good

Dude black borders is a overscan functions of the AMD drivers >< not hardware fault.

Go to CCC (Catalyst) go into one of the tabs that will have overscan functions. Go check it out.

If problem still persist then can conclude hardware issues.

i dunno whether your problem have anything to do with CCC or not, maybe you can google it.

but according to your usage, if you are considering to upgrade your pc in the future, you actually dun really need a GPU. just get a MB with in build video card that had a hdmi output is enough for you already

Looks like its ok now. Set the Overscan value to '0' and the borders disappeared. Previous setting was in the center between 0(over-scan) and 15% (under-scan).
Not too familiar with the use of this setting though
