gtx 970 got at low 400s meh? lazada closest is around $459 and sls is at $479. pcthemes and best bargain has an r9 290 for $389, performance similar to gtx 970 but all 4gb of ram usuable

you cant compare with r9 290. of course its cheap.. its phased out :s13: they are clearing stocks.

After shopback rebate that is.... :o

And GTX 970 is clearly a tier better than R9-290...

R9-380X must go below $350 to justify its value....

yeah, the gtx 970 is a wee bit faster... but by only a few fps more. if he's willing to spend more, 970 would be a little better(albeit with only 3.5gb ram). if he don't wanna spend too much the 290 would still do quite well. http://www.techspot.com/review/1019-radeon-r9-390x-390-380/page3.html benchmarks for the gtx 970 and r9 290(with various other cards)

I m still using r7970.. still serving me well.. i have just sold my over rated gtx690... big deal for some small tweats with minor upgrades.. as long as the gpu cannot support 4k properly there is really not much value for an upgrade

if go for gtx 970 or r9 390, TS will probably go over his budget. since the 290 only 1 dollar more than the 380x, would be better for him to get r9 290 as it's better than 380x

Given that there's still stocks left...

lol the graph almost flatten out since you are considering 1440p and 4K benchmark, where they are not even suitable for that. Here's the 1080p comparison where things gets more distinguished:

Hi moneyface (sorry to hijack OP thread),

the windows is trustworthy source? There are quite a number of links selling the Windows, will any link do? I see 32/64 bit download, or is it on the right under download links?
Apparently many had bought from them and it just works. But some are getting license revoked so please do read their reviews. Otherwise it should be fine...

Selling or buying license code without certificate of authenticity or without shipped with sealed pack is NOT legitimate

As mentioned before, does that means Microsoft themselves are also selling illegal copies of Windows through their online store? :s22:

CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-6500 + MSI B150 Gaming M3 @ 478
RAM: Kingston DDR4 2133MHz CL15 8gb @ 78 x 2
GPU: Asus Gtx 970 turbo @ 499
SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVOGB @ 123 + 3(Lazada Singapore)
HDD: Seagate 1TB 64MB @ 69
PSU: Seasonic M12II Modular 620w @ 115
Case: Coolermaster silencio 352/282 @ 79/63
OS: Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 64-bit Product Key [OEM] @ $30 (Reddit)
Wifi: PC themes has recommended one PCI that's about 59 but I can't seem to find it on the price list. I still cant decide to get a USB or a PCI.
DVD Drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW SATA OEM @ 25

This would be my final build after taking into a lot of considerations. Its a far cry from the original budget of about 1.2k but I guess I have made up my mind. Would be heading down to PC themes this Wednesday for majority of the parts.

Monitor would be a BenQ GL2460(non-hm) and will be looking forward for the release of future games.

Any final inputs would be appreciated, especially for the GPU and the wifi.

Thanks once again everyone for your opinions!
