Or try Korean brand matte 27" 1440p PLS monitor?

what brand is that? samsung is also korean haha so i'm quite okay.. as long as it can last a few years with no problems :)

btw using PC themes prices, is this the best setup i can get for a 2.2k budget?

ASUS H97 Pro Gamer + i5-4460 = 455
Gigabyte GTX 980 4GB G1 Gaming = 989
WD 1tb blue = 76
Samsung EVO 850 250 GB = 169
G.skill Ripjaws-X 1866 4GBx2 = 109
Corsair RM 650W Gold = 175
Fractal R5 window =169
Samsung DVD-RW = 25

Total = $2167

not sure if the mobo, ram, psu and gpu are a good fit.. if can squeeze 980 Ti is it worth it?

also not sure what is the correct ram type to use but i read from other threads if no video rendering 8gb ram should be more than enough..

comments?

Bro chill. Calm your tits. Take a deep breath and think calmly first. What are your goals for building this? 1080p enough or 1440p? What games are you playing first? Hardware knowledge wise I can't say that I am very good compared to some of the bros here but I can tell u slowly getting more and more ambitious for your build.
What i recommend is do 1080p gaming and maybe if u want get a 144hz monitor. Get skylake if u want to future proof it or upgrade it in the future cus now the 1150 chipset is considered like eol liao so not much upgradability. For 1080p gaming getting 970 will be enough le, don't have to be Asus also cus their graphic card considered quite expensive. If really want quite good one go for msi or gigabyte, msi much cheaper while gigabyte slightly cheaper but quality comparable.

I'm aware that perhaps some stuff I said might not be factually right and the bros here will correct me but this is what I feel is best for you and your pocket lah. Hope it helps!

haha thanks bro. ya i think i got carried away.. too excited liao its been so many years since i got a new com.. money saved up ready to whack!

based on your comments if i change my gpu to:
Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB G1 Gaming - 625

that's $364 savings bringing the total to $1803!

for the chipset i guess sticking to 1150 for now and upgrading it a few years down the road is the better option.. the ASUS H97 is good enough?

No point 'future-proofing' with Skylake with the looming prospect ahead given how Skylake barely (if nay) improves over 2 yo Haswell. TS will most likely want to buy another brand new CPU and motherboard or overhaul with new system altogether the next time.

Not Samsung or LG you are expecting... but QNIX, Crossover, Wasabi Mango with their no-frill (also no warranty) monitors with lower grade panels. But they are super dirt cheap and not much to cause problem generally.

And you can already get factory-overclocked Palit GTX 980 Ti Super JetStream for just $10 more which offers unprecedented single GPU performance (about 20-30% more over GTX 980)

My rams are red, should be the basic 1600 4gb ones. Why? Hope they are still compatible or should I upgrade them too?

And yes you're right if don't think I'll notice the difference for skylake.. So will settle for i5-4460.

Also convinced that for gaming 970 is more than enough so I guess no longer considering 980 or Ti.. More of which brand gives the best and most consistent stock performance ba..

Btw MoneyFace thanks for your other posts in the forums. Saw ur recommendations esp the SSD from lazada, good savings there! Once it arrives (probably wed or thu) gonna head down to SLS and get everything assembled. Hopefully by then can fix on the mobo+GPU+psu+ram combination!

wow thanks for such a comprehensive post bro! haha almost everything from lazada.. means i have to learn to self-assemble :D

mobo:
i googled the difference between the B85 and H97 Pro Gamer boards and it seems the main difference is H97 can support the newer chip and a few other features.. price difference is about 20 do you think just getting H97 is better?

gpu:
as someone pointed out earlier, 980 Ti is probably overkill if i'm not doing rendering and just gaming at max quality.. so i should downgrade to 970?

psu:
seems most ppl recommend superflower so i guess i will take this instead of the corsair (save about 30)

thanks also for the monitor and speaker recommendation. the acer a bit high and i think the Dell Ultrasharp series looks very good. wonder if they have a matte one though.. a lot of sun in my room :(
and the speakers are lovely but i think should go for a cheaper 2.1 format.. swan m10 i guess?

Good to assemble yourself, so u know how to troubleshoot in the future.

Ask yourself this, are you going to use the extra feature on H97 chipset ? Can save another $20.

Depend on what Monitor u going to get ? If u going to game @ 1080p, go for GTX 970 but if u going to game @ 1440p, go for GTX 980 Ti.

psu:

Just go for Superflower PSU.

Dell U2715H is matte screen + anti glare coating, no problem under the sun :D

Speaker is personal preference, just go for which noise signature u like.
Personally, i'm a basshead using IE8 on-the-go :D

How to troublesome:s13: @Dawnstear
Anyway just google benchmarks lor, currently the most demanding game is witcher 3 (or at least one of the most demanding) and 970 is able to do 40-60fps on that will max settings hairworks off. From what i know you play steam and blizzard games and 970 will be more than enough unless is triple A title.

thanks a lot guys!!! lots of night owls haha..

gpu:
sounds like 970 makes the most sense, don't think my budget allows for 1440p gaming haha.. although i wonder if fallout 4 and other coming games will require a 980.. but anyway the branding is not important? MSI/ASUS/GIGA/PALIT will all deliver similar stock performance?

monitor:
since gaming at 1080p, is the Dell S2715H a better choice?

At most 3% - 5% diff in perf as they r clock @ diff speed, and diff temp cos diff custom cooler. Get MSI/ASUS to match ur color scheme.

Dell S2715H is Glossy screen. U2715H is matte screen.

Google to see u the diff between this 2 model S2715H or U2715H, see which one u prefer
