[Advice Needed] High End Gaming Machine

Hi

I'm looking to build a high end gaming machine, with a budget of up to 3.5k excluding the monitor and other accessories.

I would like to seek the gurus' advice for the following:

1) Is it worthwhile going for a 1 TB M2 SSD? How much difference does it make for games when installing them on the SSD?

2) Any point going for 32 gb of ram?

3) Appreciate if there are any proposed setup for the above budget.

If you are using purely for gaming:

1. SSD using the M.2 form factor comes in 2 flavors: PCI-E and NVMe. They are both faster than the standard SATA based SSDs. However, you wont notice much of a real world difference when it comes to gaming, even load times. If you really want to use M.2 SSD, I recommend downsizing the storage, just enough to install windows and a couple of games, and then buying cheaper SSDs or even traditional hard drives to store files and install less played games. That way you can use the money saved from buying the expensive SSDs to get more storage space, hence, having more games installed.

2. So far, from my gaming experience, I have never seen a single game use more than 10GB RAM. 16GM ram is in my opinion still the sweet spot. With current RAM prices sky high right now, it might be wise to start off with 16GB and then see whats your mileage.

3. Come up with your own proposed setup and then all of us can pitch in to improve it.

1) M.2's form-factor. SATA/NVMe is what you probably meant. If it's SATA, go for it, IIRC it's an extra $10-$15 from 2.5". As for NVMe, if you're not using the drive for productivity where speed matters a whole lot, no. Not worth it at all for the price tag.

2) Unless you're running VMs/Do resource-intensive work like 3D Animation/Modelling... no. 16's the sweet spot.

3) For 3.5k you can easily get a 8700K, 1080Ti, 16 Gigs of like... 2666MHz RAM (2 by 8 Gig) and yeah. But you'd do best to give us a parts' list (from PCPP preferred).
