Advice needed on building a gaming rig

Hello everybody, I want to get a new machine as my 6yr-old laptop is about to die. Main usage for this machine will be for gaming, surfing the net, and a little bit of photo editing (not the very serious or hardcore type, just simple editing).

My budget is around 1.6~1.8k, inclusive of a monitor, keyboard, mouse and OS.

Actually i am still thinking whether i should up my budget to 2k, can the current setup you mention last ver long?

Last long is depends on how you use it. Future proof? As long as you constantly upgrade you should be fine with your rig getting updated. Spending more does not mean = last long.
