Advice needed.

Hi guys,

Need some recommendations/advice on cameras.. I'm using FujiFlim FinePix J10 since don't know how many years already, thinking of buying one new camera but budget below 300.. Just nice got IT Show this sat, and there's 3 models selling under 300.. I'm beginner and need advice which is overall recommended?

1. NIKON COOLPIX L320 @$299
- 16.0 Megapixels
- 26X Optical Zoom
- 3.0" LCD Display
- 26mm Wide Angle

2. FUJIFILM HIGH ZOOM SERIES
- 14.0 Megapixels
- 30X Optical Zoom
- Full Manual Control (A/S/M/P)

3. PANASONIC HIGH ZOOM SERIES
- 16.0 Megapixels
- 35X Optical Zoom
- 25mm Wide Angle
- Full Manual Control (A/S/M/P)

Hi there.I'm no camera expert but please don't bother getting these few hundred dallors cameras.They perform quite poorly and give very sub-par quality images and worst in low light scene .You be better off using your phone.However if you want to get a camera,i recommend you saving up to get a better one like a budget DSLR for a start where you can about the real basics such as aperture ,ISO etc.

disagree. Bridge cameras in terms of image quality may lose out to interchangeable lens systems but they are still better than phone camera in my opinion. The main purpose is all-in-one body. Alot more compact compared to say DSLR with equivalent focal lenses.

Bridge camera also need to have knowledge in ISO etc, in fact one can say DSLR people uses full auto mode too.

To TS, it depends on your budget, what you shoot and what's your take on how bulky your gear should be.

It is easier to recommend a bridge camera if you let us know the budget. If I have to suggest, it would be Fujifilm HS50 or you wait for Canon's SX60HS. More importantly go have a feel of the camera, for Canon you can head down to their gallery at Vivo while Fujifilm has a gallery at Funan.

What's the rough price for budget DSLR?

New set be prepared to look at approximately $600 and above.

Alternatively look at mirrorless cameras such as e-pm2. Qoo10 has sale for below $400. You decide if you need a camera that can 'zoom' far and you mind changing lenses or not. Some people do not mind but some people find it a hassle.
