Hi guys, I'm building a rig as per below

CPU+ Mobo: ASROCK H81M-HDS + i5 4460
RAM: G.SKILL PC 12800/1600MHZ DDR3 CL11 VALUE RAM
GPU: Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X
HDD: 2X WD 1TB 7200RPM
DVD-RW: LG 24X DVD-RW

Can anyone advise if a 600W PSU is sufficient to power this?

A good quality 600W PSU would be enough to power your rig. Not including a SSD into your build? A SSD would do wonders for your system.

Im using a FSP Aurum 600w

Not needing a SSD at the moment. just playing some basic games like SC2 & Dota2 and watching some movies. probably will add one in the future when the prices drop and the storage goes up
