Advice on component upgrades

Hey guys, I’m planning on upgrading my CPU and GPU. Looking at RTX 2080 OC for the GPU. Not really sure about which CPU I should go for. any recommendations would be appreciated!

My current specs are:
Processor: i5-4690
MOBO: Gigabyte H97D3H
GPU: MSI GTX980 Gaming 4G
PSU: Corsair CS650M (650W)

Also, will my current PSU hold up with the new RTX2080 ?

upgrade to at least 1200w psu

You can upgrade the CPU to i7-4770/K or i7-4790/K.

With the new Ryzen CPUs out next month (rumors) or mid-2019, you might want to consider getting that instead. In which case, you will also need a new motherboard and DDR4 RAM.
