advice on flight cancellation

Hi there,
I booked a flight with a budget airline many months back on a promotion. But nearer to the date, I realised I had important work commitments that makes travelling during the period not feasible. I have heard of strict no changes policy for budget tickets especially those on promo but just want to try my luck and ask if anyone faced a similar issue before and possible alternatives? Cause it's such a waste to just forfeit the ticket, unless really no choice..

Budget got no cancellation unless due to medical reasons
(certified not able to travel by doctors), then they will refund u in terms of vouchers..

budget airline only refund you.
If you are sick (dr letter needed)
If they rescheduled your flight to more than +/- 4 hours ...
seldom happens ...

Have flew with scoot and airasia ...
Scoot flight was rescheduled to more than 4 hours ...
hence, they allowed us to choose another date +/- 7 days
or refund us in the form of voucher

For airasia, they rescheduled our flight to another day
hence they allowed us to refund via bank transfer into our personal account
Very troublesome, took about 1.5 months to get it done ...

Ya agree.

Airlines change flight, they can give u options such as change dates, change timing, refund n etc

Some airline give u no option and give u their updating timing.

Some also give refund in credits only.

If you pay in foreign amount using credit card, the refund may be lesser when it is refunded to you because of exchange rate.

On the other hand, if you cannot make it for the flight and your ticket is non refundable and non cancellation type then you just have to forfeit.

haha they wrong, we get refund ...
we wrong, super hard hard to get refund.

For full fledged airline, such as cx ...
if you rescheduled your flight within one month, you need to pay additional 150 or 200sgd one way on top of your fare ...
