Hi,

I am at a dilemma whether to get the Zotac 970 ($399 after coupon offset) or wait for next gen GPU?

I am using Sapphire R9 280 which I bought 2 years ago and just upgraded my monitor to 1080p therefore unlikely to have another round of upgrade soon.

Games I usually played is BF4, Fifa series, PES series and battlefront would prefer to for maximum setting.

Can any expert help to advise?

Thanks

since the pascal series and the polaris is coming out soon just wait abit lor, the r9 280 is good enough to run all the games at the moment. Although not at max setting lah but i believe the 14 nm chips will provide a greater jump than r9 280 to 970

At 399 bucks the GTX 970 is a good deal to be honest. I am not expecting the next gen cards to be readily available when they are released, and its def not going to be cheap either.

I do feel that the R9 280 is still quite a decent card at this point and should run on 1080p quite well. Between max setting and high settings, sometimes the difference may not be so big to be honest.

You can choose to wait for next gen card, but they may most likely be very pricey for similar performance...

Actually the r9 280 is a rebranded 7950 with some overclock. It was originally released in 2011
