Budget starting from $600, can go over but trying to keep it as low as possible. Looking to buy and build in SLS. Never go to SLS in a long time, could use some advice on where to buy from.

No need Kbm, monitor.
Need wifi.
If can squeeze in SSD fine but not necessary.
Budget starting from $600-$800.
Also need win10.

$500 for mobo, ram, hdd, casing

Cheapest GTX1060 at SLS is Palit GTX1060 3GB @ $275

CPU probably get G4560.

$600 is abit tough. You will want 8GB Ram as well.

Wifi can get any USB Wifi Adapter
OS buy from Carousell $10-20

I've only bought from PCThemes, Bizgram, Laser at SLS before. I only go in to buy the parts, not for them to recommend me anything so can't say much about the service :s13: Experience overall has been good so far.

PCThemes probably best place if you want them to help you build while Tradepac is cheap if you are laojiao and know how to bargain according to other bros on the forum here

I posted this in another thread u can take a look:

Mobo + CPU : ASUS H110M-A M.2 D4 + G4560 ($193)
GPU : Palit GTX 1060 3GB STORM-X Fan ($275)
RAM : 8GB Kingston 2400MHz ValueRAM ($89)
HDD : 1TB WD Blue ($72)
SSD : PNY 128GB SSD ($89)
Case : Tecware F3 ($49)
PSU : FSP Hexa 450W 80+ ($59)

Total Cost : $826

Prices based on PCThemes price list

Suggest you don't buy all the parts at the same place, mixture of online shopping and SLS should give you the most savings

But I still don't get why limit the budget so low and insist on a gtx 1060. A good cpu run a long way, maybe even more than 5 years if your components don't break down, while your gpu will likely to have difficulty in catching up if you consistently exploring new games.

One good example is those who built an i7-3770 pc pairing with gtx 760. Now it's 5 years old, and if your pc survived, you can still get a gtx 1080 if you wished and continue exploring new AAA games and change higher resolution/refresh rate monitor without needing to change the rig.

Agree, more worth it to spend more on an i5-7500 or Ryzen equivalent imo, otherwise very soon you will want to upgrade your CPU. Also eliminates any chance of CPU bottlenecking your GPU in the near future, because your next GPU upgrade confirm need to upgrade CPU as well if go for G4560

Willing to go lower spec on GPU to bring cost down. What GPU can I get for lower if going for GTX 770 equivalent. My old GPU was 770 and since Im building for someone to family share my account Im looking to match that spec. AMD also can but really would like to stick with green.

I really dont want to build the PC myself. Will they offer to build if you bring parts to them.

Actually while I do agree with your point but there is one thing that going with a super high end cpu might not a good choice since the motherboard nowadays are not super durable like in the old days where it can last 5 - 10 years. Nowadays the motherboard usually dies in 3 years maybe can last up to 5 years or longer if lucky.

Then trying to find an old intel socket board for your old intel processor can be a pain. So might as well just buy a cheap budget processor + budget board sometimes. Just my 2 cents.

Not against buying good cpu though if your usage requires it but just sometimes might not be a good choice if you plan to reuse it for 5 years or more. Since intel keep changing their socket with their new cpu architecture.

I guess it would be GTX 1050 Ti.

GTX 1060 more bang for buck though imo.

One question, is your current pc still doing okay? If it is, then I'd suggest you save for few more months and get a budget of 1.2-1.5k and get AMD Ryzen 5 1600 with gtx 1060 or its equivalent by then if nvidia were to launch new lineup.

AMD socket AM4 will receive support until 2020. Meaning it won't get left behind every 1-2 generation like Intel counterpart. 6 core processing with overclocking capabilities can really go a long way, especially if you got plans for productivity work that uses those power like streaming your games, do video/photo editing/rendering, 3D graphic designs, VMs, VR gaming, etc. Even just for gaming, newer AAA titles already started to utilize more cores and threads.

What is a good build for a 1060 paired with decent CPU? Maybe I can get a good estimate on budget I can get back to the family and ask them if they willing to spend abit more.

Either I get them to drop the GPU for now and go with iGPU for general PC usage, upgrade to discreet later in the year or just go with a lower spec PC overall if they reall need a PC right now.

Ryzen 5 1600 is the better option if you are able to purchase GPU now, otherwise i5-7500. Should cost around 1.1-1.3k depending on the quality of the other parts you want to get.

Sorry to hijack this thread abit.. my current set up is:

i7-3770
8GB
GTX 750ti

I would like to play witcher 3 at high/max setting @60fps, 1080p. Is GTX 1060 3GB enough to do the job?
