Hi,

I have S$1,000 - S$2,000 (per annum) to play with this investment thing (by "play", I mean I can bear -100% [minus one hundred percent] Rate Of Return; however, I'd prefer a positive percent ROI).

What option do I have (I'm a foreigner)? With all the minimum investment amount etc, advice me. I'm a complete noob. I'd also like to know 2-3 companies providing service for each option (For example, for Investment-Linked life-insurance Policy option, there are companies like Prudential, Great Eastern and AIA to get this service from).

Best regards,

investing in other products / options are much better..

but is probably better to read up almost every thread here and do some researching and reading out there to understand the trade.. so you wont get into things that you are not familiar with just only becos the agent says so..

this topic on what should i do / what should i invest is very common here and many experts are giving advices already many times...

read up on the forum.. you should get your answer :)

Thanks. Actually, that's the amount I am comfortable for minus one hundred ROI. I also have a full time job too so ... I can't set much time aside for this task. I will try to read up more topics in this forum (Have already read some). :)

You don't really need to expect such a bad return...
Unless you go for really risky instruments.
The chances for STI ETF to go to zero is rather negligible.

As steven168z mentioned, POSB IS and OCBC BCIP are reasonable simple options.

Thanks for all the answers :D Steven168z, JK Market and Kazejin

To those who are PMing me: I don't want another insurance agent contact. I just want a textbook-like descriptions with service provider names, see the examples below:

What: Investment Linked Plan

Description: Investment Linked Plan is an insurance plan with investment portion. The premium is divided into two chunks, insurance premium (deduction or whatever) and investment portion. Allocation % to insurance is different for each year. You can choose from a pool of investment options (funds etc). The provider levies fees for managing your funds, usually around 1.5% per annum of all the things you have bought. In case you can't sustain your premium payment, you can use the investment portion to pay the investment portion starting from x years onward (usually x = 2) until your fund depleted.

Companies: AXA, Prudential, MenuLife

--------------

What: Investment as a Saving

Description: You set aside a certain amount of money to buy stock/ETF of your choice. The bank GIRO your saving account. For all the amount you sell or buy, the bank charges a certain percentage: usually 0.30% to 2% (example). Typically, the buying date is fixed but you can sell anytime.

Companies: POSB Invest-Saver, OCBC BCIP

--------------

See? So stop PMing me and give me description like the above posters.

Again ... thanks to Steven168z, JK Market and Kazejin
