Advice on new gaming rig

Building a new gaming rig. Planning on playing graphic intensive games(star citizen etc.) and heavy video editing etc.

Mobo: Asus Z97- C
Processor: Intel i7 4790
Ram: Kingston Hyper X fury 1600mhz 16gb
SSD: Samsung Evo 250GB
HDD: WD blue 1gb
Graphics: Powercolour R9 290 PCS+
PSU: Corsair CS650M

Any comments, recommendations, suggestions??

Drop the asus z97. you dun need it. Instead, you can get MSI H97 gaming or even MSI B85 Gaming. Wun make a diff.

Drop the hyper X fury and get normal corsair vengeance or g.skill 1600 mhz 16gb.

1tb of wd blue u mean?

Drop that psu, and get superflower HX600w.

Your case is missing, so i recommend arc midi r2.

Well, if you wanna reduce costs, can consider B85 boards. U no need H97/87 mobo as i believe u r not gonna RAID. If you are, den just get H97.

Also, are you getting ur samsung evo 250gb ssd from amazon?

Yep, already ordered. Way cheaper than here in SLS.

Gonna head down tomorrow and pick up the R9 290 first before stock runs out. Planning to build next weekend.

Btw, any recommended shop? I used to be a regular at Fuwell, but that was over 5 years ago before I left for overseas.

If you are gonna self build, get from Tradepac. Can bargain for lower price. you cna try getting your gpu from there and come back next week to get your rig. Reason is that it would b easier to bargain for lower prices if u r buying a full rig and since u getting gpu 1st, dey may not give u much.

Otherwise, just get from pc themes, but cant bargain much.

Another quick question. Do you know if the MSI H97 bios allows for simultaneous integrated and dedicated graphics? I plan on setting up a side screen for monitoring purposes on the integrated while my dedicated handles the gaming screens. I know the asus boards could do that.

Erm, once u use dedicated gpu, your iGPU will be disabled. Even if you can enable it, i believe there may be some conflicts.

Also, 1 thing i note of the 230T is that the bottom of the case has very small space which would affect the airflow for your PSU. The arc midi r2 has a higher stand which gives more space for your psu to breathe.

Bought everything, picking up my case tomorrow plus some accessories because I will have my car after work.

Nope, used yours with a bit of changes in the PSU. Total 1.5K with SSD separate from Amazon.

And yea, told the shop the keep the case for me.

Haha well, it's a combo of you two plus a different PSU as I wanted it fully modular. Updating my specs on HWZ now. Thanks both of you.

Corsair rm 650 isnt that good due to the components used. But o well, since u get le, den dun worry about it. Still an above decent psu.

Yups rm series not as good as seasonic
