Advice on NTU appeal !!

I got rejected so im trying to appeal by sending a letter to the department head of my desired course (besides the official 50 word online appeal) with a personal statement. But im wondering if it is the department head or admissions officer who read the "personal essay" portion in the original online application? Because a paragraph of my personal statement and personal essay overlaps (copy paste haha). So if a different person is gonna read my statement i wont have to think of something else to write alr! Help pls

Probably won't be the same person. Should be someone else within that department that handles admissions, it definitely won't be the head, he/she probably has many other things to do.

I tried appealing into NTU English through the online 50 words appeal and also sending in an appeal package (letter, a few awards, testimonials from poly lecturer and internship manager) to the admissions office. Actually, I managed to secure an interview for the course but I must have screwed it up since I got rejected I was EXTREMELY unprepared. So I don't think my chances of getting in are high at all, since they already interviewed me and rejected me from there. English is my second choice but I didn't bother trying to appeal into my first choice, which is Wee Kim Wee (Communications) cos I know the competition is crazy. And I'm pretty sure there will be people (English especially) who got accepted into an NTU course and will then try to appeal to Wee Kim Wee. So I'm just betting on those empty slots and hoping some miracle will happen and I can get accepted.. But I've kind of accepted that I'm not going to get in. Already thinking of how to tidy up my portfolio and get a job in a related field so I have some work experience under my belt to use to try applying to uni again another year.

Best of luck to those appealing!! Even if the appeal is unsuccessful, don't take it too hard and just try again another year! There have been a number of cases whereby people only got into uni after multiple applications and appeals.

Oops sorry, I think I didn't write clearly enough! I got called in for an interview BEFORE I appealed. After going for the interview, I received a rejection letter (online). Then I mailed my written appeal thanks for your well wishes

May I ask if sending the letter to the dean of the school for appeal is too extreme?

Drop that idea man.. its like telling a director of a company that you want that job so badly and they will care less. Everything is done through appeal and case by case basis. Who told u that each time you failed ur actual appeal, you can go to message the higher up for better chance. There is a protocol to follow, if not everyone will think alike and do the same and that will make them very busy.

hey all, sadly i couldn't bring good news of a successful appeal; mine was rejected not too disappointed tho, i believe everything happens for a reason so i guess right now, i'm just not ready for uni.

posting a message again cos i just want to say, if you got rejected don't feel bad and look at everything from a positive side!! And if you managed to get in, congrats!
