The Asus board is a whole world of difference! I've just finished installing my OS and I'm running some stability tests now. I'm so glad I insisted on switching to this board!

I ran the IntelBurnTest at both Standard as well as High settings without any issues! And the best part is I've overclocked my Q8300 by 15% using Asus' built-in auto overclock function. I can't get it to run at 20% overclocked though. So currently it's running at a modest 2.8GHz.

And somehow temperatures are lower than the Asrock board. With this board, I actually have enough space to mount 2 Gentle Typhoons on my CoolerMaster Hyper212+, but at the expense of one of my top chassis fans as the cooler is in the way.

What can I say? It's all looking good! When I'm done setting up all my stuff, I'll try getting to 3.0GHz.

Thnaks bro, you have been most encouraging! I think 2.8 is about as stable as I can get it for now, so I shall leave it till I'm done reinstalling all my stuff. Have a good day!

No regrets upgrading to this board. At least I managed to squeeze a little extra performance out of my aging processor. But hey, it's still going strong, so I guess it's worth it. I'm glad I didn't give in to the salesman and insisted on getting this board.

On a side note, I don't really like the UI of the new Firefox 4, so I reinstalled my old FF3.

I tried, but doesn't seem to work. Hmm... I'll need to do a bit of research on what kind of settings I need to tweak in order to get it to 3.0GHz. Once I can get it stable at 3.0GHz, I think it's good enough already.

Alright, so I've got most of my stuff installed already. Here are the latest results from the IntelBurnTest:

As I mentioned before, I've got my processor overclocked at 2.8GHz using Asus' auto overclock profile. Temperatures seem pretty alright on load.

Yup! I ran the IntelBurnTest at "Maximum" mode and my system passed the test. I think I'll just let it run at 2.8GHz as the improvement in performance is already good enough for me. GTA 4 doesn't stutter anymore, so I believe my guess that my CPU was bottle-necking my system should be correct to a certain extent. It's stable as it is now, so I'm not gonna tweak it unnecessarily.

Thank you so much, bro! You've been really encouraging throughout the entire process of my little project!
