Advice on Penang

Btw, what do u all do at night after 10pm in Penang? Like no place to walk ard at that time just go back hotel sleep..lol

Gurney plaza got mani cafe 24hr, dome etc, red box ktv.. But tis r mostly high end.. But lots of penang mei mei 2 c ;p

I've stayed in Tune hotel. Better than expected cos I dunno the hotel so new. Room is small, the double bed occupies almost the whole room, so there is just enough walking space at the sides & front of the bed. There are no space for other things like chairs, tables or wardrobe. Got 2 small bed shelfs at each side with a safe box provided. I think the toilet door cannot be locked, it's those push-pull door.

My room has a window with city view, some rooms the window view is the interior gap of the hotel only. I think got a few rooms in the centre of the floor doesn't have windows. For air-con u need to buy credits to use. The hotel & the corridor is all air-con, so I find the room quite cooling with fan on. I nvr purchased any air-con credits & even turn off the fan, windows closed when I sleep cos I'm the type who doesn't like air-con or fan blowing at me while sleeping. Anyway the air-con very cheap also.. 12 hrs credits 10+RM only. The bed is very comfortable. I think u know toiletries & towel are not provided free. Can go read at the website. No complimentary mineral water also.. no cups & fridge. Got advertisement boards on the walls. The hotel earn from advertising revenue. I like their concept. I definitely will go stay there if i go Penang again cos I'm an environmentalist & the price is unbeatable. Got free internet provided at the lobby.

Location of the hotel is good. Got lots of food to eat ard the area. Can walk to Jln McAllister or Jln Penang for shopping & eating. Can also walk to Him Heang to buy the famous dou sha bing there.

bring kid along, thus maybe need a bigger room, look at g hotel too, any one stay there before?

at the penang airport, is there a q for cab? need to bargain for the price or there is a fixed rate for the cab? tks

the price fix base on area.
when you q for taxi ticket, there is big paper, show tarif and area.

there is a taxi counter somewhere outside the arrival hall, the fares are fixed. go and buy the taxi ticket from there.

wah, maybe u got a better deal, I flying off on wed.. staying at Tune for 3 nights also.. I flying by Air Asia and included ferry service from Airport to hotel and total < S$230 which I booked one month ago online

The room is just like FIRST WORLD in GENTING, but w/o the TV set and personally speaking, I feel the fan is more than enough as I opt out the air out but the main grouse is the this...

regardin Free internet access at lobby, better confirm with staff again

but if need to the purchase off counter lor

Correction... just now before I checked out I hi-lit this issue to the reception guy, he informed me that free internet access is provided for 30min at those terminal at the lobby when I told him on the day I checked in his colleague that was not such thing..

My Advice is double-confirm again before thing flip-flop again

I think you can decide whether u need the air-con or later, I asked for a room has a window, so at night I just open the windows and fan, but beware of Mozzies..hehehehe

I tot must ask at the counter & they will provide u with a username & password to access the computer there.. not sure.. I nvr use the internet.. only my companions use it...

cheapest is Mingood hotel
need to walk 10-15mins from Komtar to the hotel

very cheap
last time go with 3 frens
they got a room with 4 single beds
we stay 3nites only cost us less than SG$50 per head
