Returned from 2d1n penang getaway a few weeks ago. stayed at st giles wembley. nice hotel with good breakfast.

georgetown is a nice place to walk around and it is like a bigger melaka. I managed to cover 3 museums, armenian street, chew jetty and penang hill in 2 days. food near sunway hotel was good.

The only surpising thing was how komtar and penang times square look like ghost town. I thought penang times sqaure is similar to berjaya times square but the interior looks deserted with many shops closed. :s13:

Hi

Anyone stay in Armenian Street Heritage Hotel before? Is it good? I am looking at this hotel because they got family rooms for four.

Quite hard to find a hotel with family rooms in Penang.

Looking at Sunway hotel but they does not have family rooms.

Yes Armenian Street Heritage Hotel has family room for 4 pax.

I got news from the times square management, they are transforming 2 levels to japan high class shop lots this quarter.

Other changes in times square are coming to be another tourist spots. For now, it has a wax museum other shop lots. If you are m member, you can use your m points all shop lots there.

Any taxi drive to recommend for airport transfer to hotel?

we have 9 adults and 1 toddler, need at least 3 taxis to get into hotel at gurney.

got quote from a transport company, 200rm for a 10 seaters van.

anybody know roughly how much is the charges for each taxi to reach Gurney from airport?

I am thinking of going penang next month for a short break, seeking advice from expert here

Have anyone stay at Park Royal Penang before?? how is the location?? and the transfer from bus terminal to hotel, what is the price like?? any must visit place??

recently been to penang
stayed at lone pine
the hotel spa is one of the best I had tried recently
but is abit pricey
the Japanese restaurant in the hotel is good and good price
according to the hotel, it is the only authentic Japanese restaurant that serve sushin in batu ferringi

best to do in Penang is rent a small car and tour around.
it makes life much simpler

Spent 3 days 2 nights at ferringi last time
I booked a car and there was a college boy who waited to deliver the car to me at 1230 am. I felt it was ok and safe. drove the car to feringgi which takes 40 mins or so. Luckily the car came with GPS, so less hassle especially I don't have data to access my phone yet

Self drive tour to makan, went to Georgetown for the famous Cendol
had to q but was ok, next to it, got some seriously good char kt, penang prawn noodle
basically lunch was sorted

also strolled around the beach, had some relaxing massage in the hotel
own time own target

Thanks for suggestion.

Actually after combing through, there are quite a few options for connecting rooms or family suites...

Have booked via Hotels.com for 2 Glow Penang Superior rooms that were on special sale, and requested hotel for connecting rooms. Can use discount codes by googling.

Some of those considered:
Hotel Penaga
Hotel Jen Penang (Hotels.com has special price for the Club room now)
Cititel Penang
Ren i Tang
Cititel Express Penang
Sunway
Hotel Neo+

Also looked at those at Airbnb...most of those fitting my criteria were condo units at Penang Time Square.

Has anyone tried G Hotel Gurney? Any good? I heard that hawker food in Gurney is the same as our Newton...is it still worth going?
