Going penang for the first time in May.. Attending an event held at the esplanade/padang area..

Manage to book jetstar promo for $68 with tax..

Now looking for hotel in georgetown.. Anyone stayed in hotel sentral georgetown or G inn before? Which is a better choice? Both is $54 on agoda.. Plan to visit the heritage area and the toy museum..

Thanks!

Sentral nearer to Penang Rd but if not mistaken CAT shuttle bus dun run there. Few Hotels along Penang Rd n walking distance to all nights happening. Cat bus running along Penang Rd to all the heritage area but walking is better or rent bicycles.

I checked all 3 carriers and airasia was the most ex.. Jetstar was 144 without promo, but tiger had better timing, cost $160.. Almost book tigerairways..luckily i waited a few more days.. At $68, its cheaper than taking coaches..

personally, i don't like staying near komtar. busy, crowded. but hotel sentral georgetown is near alot of good food. there got this chicken rice restaurant. tokkong until the skin damn crispy. like 5 star restaurant standard:s13: but that road there is very hard jaywalk. so exercise caution. the last time i went i stayed cititel, about 10-15 min walk from komtar, but that 15 min walk can see quite alot of stuff. about 5 min walk to a dimsum stall and 10 min to wet market. can see and experience the local life there. according to my mum, its similar to the old singapore. :s12: but more modern abit. :)

Indeed the G Hotel is a 5 star hotel and the thing is that it's right where the Food Party is! Gurney Drive.
It has a cosy and modern feel with FREE Parking...
G Hotel Penang
Double Standard Room S$175

168A Persiaran Gurney, Tanjung Tokong, Malaysia

But if budget is limited a year back we enjoyed our stay at Palanquinn Heritage Suites about 1 km from Gurney Drive - Walkable distance. It has the 小娘惹 feel

Yes , from Sentral can walk to komtar n there a CAT stop at Komtar. Near Sentral also there are 2 night makan centres open till midnite. Morning busy along Penang Rd esp at the Chinatown market a quite a walking distance from Sentral. We even walk around to find those street arts till midnite ah!

There's a mac in the airport.

The nearest mall to the airport is Queensbay Mall with the usual restaurants and food outlets.. :)
