Oic, but actually it's quite easy to drive around with the help of a GPS. Just need to plan where you want to go in advance. The drivers there are generally friendly and will give way to you. Just need to rent the car from the ariport and drop off there. Morever, you mentioned you are travelling with 2 eldery therefore the suggestion to self drive.

And for bayview hotel, the areas around it are all entertainment spots so trader hotel will be better.

Traders hotel is really old!
The room interiors lok like from the 1970s...in a bad way.
Convenient location though n they have good breakfast buffet.

georgetown is amazing la! yea penang got lots of good food and the street art is really nice to look at. I wish i could go... i'm just watching video and salivating.

i heard stay at batu ferinnghi is better where all the beach resorts are.. cause there is a big night market there

That night market CMI, sells all the chiong stuffs. Nothing much.

Actually if you do intend to go to Batu Ferringhi, you can go to Hardrock Hotel's lounge to have a drink and enjoy the live band performance or go to Hardrock Cafe or the merchandise retail shop.

Further down there's a famous seafood house catered to the local. The price is quite cheap and the quality is good but quite packed on weekends and probably only the locals know the location cos it's quite ulu. You will see some foreigners but often brought there by their local friends.

The rest of those restaurants along the main street is quite over-priced.

Personally i would skip batu ferringhi..touristy and boring
