advice on private uni choices

I'm an A level graduate who have finished NS. Any advice should i choose Sim-Uol or get a sim diploma/uol diploma then Sim-Uob? I think UOB is more recognized. May i know if the cert of UOB is with the word "external" ? Anyway i would like to get a Master after degree.

2. Is your desire to get a masters based on your love for academics or is it just to 'cover' up your DL degree?

IMO UOL seems to be more recognised among the private sectors here.

1 I'm interested in biz related courses like finance or accounting. Sim-UOl is accounting&finance and for Sim-UOB is business management.
2 Getting a master is partly because of my love for academic and also to give me a better start in working.

Isn't UOB a more prestigious uni than UOL?

Really? That's good. So what about finance, accountancy, or biz that are you keen on studying?

I think UOL is still more popular among my own peers. Although the evidence is just anecdotal.

2: if taught masters u don't really love academics, masters don't really gives a better start. Most time same a Bach imho.
Masters costly too unless local, DL masters certainly no better start

I plan to go overseas for master to get the feel of on campus learning.

I felt that UOL is more well known in Singapore as SIM had been offering UOL course for a long time.

As for UOB, in term of university ranking, it is higher than UOL but not so well known in Sg as SIM have only started offering SIM-UOB in recent year, I think 2009 if I am not wrong.

I would think UOB is a better choice compared to UOL due to the fact that UOB has more contact hours and fully taught by UOB lecturers. Quality of students would be a tinge higher as you need a min GPA to gain entry to it. If you are not confident in getting a 1st class for UOL degree (so you can transfer to do a master with LSE) then i would suggest to go for UOB.

Really? 1st class can transfer to LSE for master? Your points are quite true regarding the contact hours and the quality of students. But if I take UOB, I will graduate exactly one year later and spend close to 30k more. Do you think is worth it?

I dont think so. You just need five 'first class' grades out of 9 graded papers. Doesnt sound as hard as local uni first class where you need to maintain an average of a 'first-class' grade for your entire 4 years. Not just 5/9 of the time.

It's rare cause many doing part time work and it's hard to juggle work and study. Those full time study if most are local ivy rejects they would have to work extra hard. If follow same study system then you not going to see 1.1

We do have Overseas scholarship receipient who didn't get a First from LSE.

Anyway, the syllabus for similar degree programmes in LSE are not exactly the same with the ones offered in UOLIP. They are broadly similar. Some courses, like econometrics, are the same though.

You may want to check directly with SIMGE if SIM-Birmingham will take A Level graduates like you for their business bridging programme. That will save you the trouble to go for SIM diplomas.

I called the recruitment center, the person told me SIM-UOB won't take A level graduate. My result is BCCE. But I got a S for GP. I applied all the universities as well. UniSim alr rejected me.

Will USA uni accept UOL degree? I have never considered a Finnish school before as Finland is not so famous for its education. Anyway I already missed the application deadline. Thank you for your information.
