I looked through the prices from Apple Stores SG and US, and see a $250 difference in price for iPhone 17 (after exchange rate). If anyone had done this before, is it ok to do so via a shipping agent? I mean the phone can still be used in SG via eSIM? Thanks in advance.

You still need to pay gst here when you import it.

I cannot remember, but I think Apple doesn't deliver to forwarders. Best to check this.

There should be no problems with the LTE/5G bands and eSIM in Singapore.

U buy via traveling out of Singapore also less $150 based on pro max so why go through the hassle to ship from US?

Apple store US don't ship to freight forwarders address and u need to pay GST when shipping back to SG.

and export sets usually will fetch lower value when u trade in or resell to mobile shop.

Well, I’m not sure if the IRAS will necessarily agree.

If I were to buy a branded bag for S$2,000 while holidaying overseas, and were to start using it during the trip, do I have to pay GST when I bring the bag home? If so, how is the GST computed?

Yes, the bag is subject to payment of GST.

Then feel free to declare whatsoever you feel is right since you bend on the rule is technically right for you.

I think you are missing my point.

It’s not for me to suggest whether one should or should not do it.

at the end of the day I’m not the one who will suffer the consequences.

im just pointing out something in case people, e.g., you, may not realise what the rules are.

cause at the end of the day, whether you know or don’t know the rules, you will have to deal with the consequences when caught. Cause ignorance is not an excuse when it comes to such things.

don’t need to feel so offended by what I say.

im simply just doing a public service announcement.

AIt appears that you are not comprehending the situation, regardless of your political affiliation. Ignorance is not an excuse which I also agreed with you.
Given that Singaporeans travel frequently annually, it is surprising that you believe no one is aware of the rules, especially since there have been multiple public media announcements regarding the travel relief GST.

I don’t mean to imply that you said this, but I think you’re suggesting that no one is aware of the rule yet? Therefore, there’s no need for a PSA. We’re not here to teach the philosophy of being a law-abiding citizen.

I think you have mistaken if you think that I’m suggesting no one is aware of the rule yet.

I’m suggesting that there will always be people who is not aware of the rule.

when you said earlier to open immediately to use, you are already saying that you are unaware, if not you wouldn’t have suggested that.
Therefore, there’s no need for a PSA.
Why not? The purpose of a forum is to share right? Is it a rule against providing PSA?

I’m not teaching ah. I’m just sharing what I came across that others might not be aware of.

I hope you finally become aware of this now that I have shared 🙂

how would they know the bag was bought overseas???
I am not in the line of enforcement so I don't know.

But, that’s an enforcement question. Whether Customs can tell is separate from whether it’s taxable, these are two different matters.
