I'm dwelling on the idea of getting a G-SYNC 27inch 1440p monitor say the one from Acer. But currently my GFX is the 780 lightning. Will it be able to drive that monitor well at minimum 60fps+ at max settings or should I get a 970 considering the 780 lightning was the flagship less than 2 years ago.

But ultimately, i'm planning to get a new rig end of next year in which I'm aiming for Pascal hence my reluctance to splurge on anything higher than 970. So thinking whether if my current card can drive the monitor or upgrade to 970 would be the better option.

Save for your rig overhaul when Pascal hits. Probably by then, we will definitely have more options when it comes to G-Sync/Freesync monitors.

That's my opinion.

GTX970 is only slightly faster than a GTX780. No point.

I am using MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G for my Dell U2713HM @ 1440P though :)
