Advice on upgrading from Lynnfield

Hi i have this pc since 2 year ago ( acer predator G5900).
it play quite poorly on shogun total war and i planning to buy rome total war 2.
So i plan to get a GTX 770 but wonder if the cpu will bottleneck the gpu anot..

Current spec:

Cpu:i7-870(2.93Ghz) With OEM mainboard(which i dont know what is it..)
PSU:FSP750-80APG(750w)
RAM:corsair vengeance 4GBx2 DDR3 1600MHz
SSD: Corsair Force GT 120GB
HDD: Seagate 1.5tb 7200rpm
1x dvd drive(don't know what model)
GPU: MSI GTX 560ti (N560GTX-Ti-M2D1GD5/OC)
OS: Window 7 64bit(install on ssd)

So can i upgrade some part or need a new rig?For this upgrading i willing to spend up to 2.5k for either both option but prefer as cheap as possible if can.

I rather u get 7970, about the same price, same performance plus 7970 comes with free games. Which u can sell them to cut cost, if u not playing them.

Wont i7-870 first generation bottleneck the gpu? that the only game i having framerate problem with. other game like battlefield 3, world of tank have no problem running it.And also i found that the psu dont have any 8 pin power connecter i can see.

I also advice getting a 7950 or 7970 and get an i5-3450 + AsRock B75 Pro3 M CPU+MB bundle. Since u already have SSD and the latest stuff installed, might as well get Ivy Bridge for native support of these features (USB3.0, PCIe3.0 etc)?

Don't need to get liquid CPU cooler since you can't overclock much with a locked CPU and non-oc Mobo.

I think your CPU is fine. I'm running it on a i7 920. CPU has never been an issue.

Depending on the games u play, Ur cpu is fine. If u are talking about bf3, I suggest u only need a new gpu first...

All the games are tested with 7950 and u can See most games show little difference in performance across cpus except for 2 cpu intensive games.. (skyrim/batman)

Other cpu intensive games I can remember are :wow, sc2

And you don't need to upgrade/replace ur mobo unless it's broken/fried

changing MOBO ONLY WON'T increase your PC's Performance much, i am not saying it don't have any benefits, but the performance difference will be quite negligible..

unless you are planning to upgrade to a new CPU+MOBO , don't change something thats not broken.......

Ok I understood.1 more question, I saw no 8 pin pci-e power connector only 2 pin and 6 pin so will it pose a problem for 7970? Since it require 1x6 pin and 1x8pin
