Hi guys,

Im looking to upgrade my pc parts after 3 years. Got into afk games in recent years so my current build is not capable of running multi instance emulators 24/7. I can only run 1-2 emu at background while i play other games like league, monster hunter, gta etc. I wish to be able to run more than 4 emu (if possible) while smoothly play my games. Any suggestion is welcomed, thanks.

current build:
i5 9500k + rog strix z390e
gskill sniper x DDR4-3600 (2x8GB)
zotac gtx1070 mini
corsair rm750 gold
nzxt kraken x63 280mm aio cooler
500gb ssd + 1tb hdd
fractal design meshify 2xl case (cos i like big case)

what im looking at now:
intel 13th gen cpu
32 or 64gb ram ddr4
rtx3060 or higher

Budget is $1.5k, and i hope to play more open world games like cyberpunk in the future.

i suppose u need more threads, so something like the 13500 should be the minimum. also since u dont look like u want to reuse ur current ram, u might as well go ddr5.
this is ideal ($1397):
i5 13500 + asus tuf gaming b660m plus wifi d5 - 584 @ dynacore
gigabyte aorus 2x 16gb 5200c40 ddr5 - 199 @ fuwell
asus dual rx 6750 xt - 614 @ dynacore

however i hear 6700/50 xt oos liao, so alternative is ($1373):
i5 13600kf + msi pro z790-p wifi d5 - 754 @ dynacore
gigabyte aorus 2x 16gb 5200c40 ddr5 - 199 @ fuwell
asus dual rx 6650 xt - 420 @ fuwell/infinity

best is reuse ur aio, but not sure if u have the lga1700 mount. if not u still have ~$100 budget for a decent air cooler.

thanks for the detailed breakdown! i bought my aio before 10th gen so i doubt there will be a lga1700 mount...
have a few questions regarding the build:

1. why ddr5 over ddr4? and should i consider 64gb ram since based on my current usage, my emu settings are 4core/4gb ram each.
2. i had bad experience with amd gpu drivers previously so is it possible there is any rtx alternative for the gpu choice?
3. any decent air cooler to recommend? rgb/non-rgb is ok

that particular ddr5 kit is not that much more expensive than ddr4 kits. as for getting 64gb, i dont really see the point as u will run out of cores before running out of ram. with 32gb, u have 4 emus, u still have 16gb left over, which is effectively ur old system without emus.
i had bad experience with amd gpu drivers previously so is it possible there is any rtx alternative for the gpu choice?
for slightly more than the mentioned 6750 xt price u can get a 3060 ti, and again slightly more than the 6650 xt price u can get a regular 3060, both of which are quite a bit slower. i personally have not run into issues with amd drivers with 6000 series cards in 3 separate systems.
any decent air cooler to recommend? rgb/non-rgb is ok
got the scythe fuma 2 rev b, thermalright pa120 or deepcool ak620, though u may need to watch out for ram clearance on that ak620.

Hmm, multi instance emulators as in Duckstation/PCSX2/RPCS3/PPSSPP etc ?

No point changing to 9700K 2nd hand when it's just a 2 core upgrade to his current 9500/9600k.

He should consider NR49 recommendation.

i5 13500 + asus tuf gaming b660m plus wifi d5 - 584 @ dynacore,
G.skill 32GB DDR5 5600 CL36 - 180 @ Amazon.sg,
Asus Dual RTX3070 V2 - 789 @ Shopee ( will be lower if he has shopee voucher ).
Total S$1553.

And he will be happy for the next 2-3 yrs.
