Hi All, I notice alot of different company posting on FB about their 9H or 2,3 or 4 layer coating to protect car from scratch, dirt and etc.

Cost range from 300 - 1k+

How to tell what is a good to have and what is really a luxury protection?

Cause photo and video, all the same, pour water, it will repel, shine, use key scratch..

Kah Motor tell me do with them, $500+, can last 10 years.. Only need do 1 time and yearly do $70 maintenance..

How true? And everybody say 9H.. 9H is what? =\

Pardon my noob question..

9H is like the coating type.... Like hardness/layers the protection offers... Like your tempered glass fro your phone also have 9H... Repels scratches and bla bla bla....

I dunno about other paint protection brand other than Ceramic Pro... Never tried b4 this brand but its damn expensive as it offers lifetime warranty... Rarely u see a car is SG coated with this... I also found out its avail in almost all countries...

It only protects once. Just like temper glass screen protector.

Then u need recoat again.

U also need regular maintenance.

A polisher share with me he dont do pps but instead uses a gel and wash regularly, once every fortnight to monthly to maintain and remove scratches.

The pps wont protect against impact.

It more like a protection layer (more lasting than wax) which make washing easier and some clean shine look.

Maintenance & spot recoat may still be necessary from time to time.

From experience, those claim on prevent scratch etc may not be 100% valid

Of course Kah motors say can last 10 years la... you are paying $500 + 10 x $70 = $1.2k

For that price I can get 2 coats done every 2 years and still have change :o Of course, assuming my contact is still doing it for the next 10 years :s13:

Their interior cleaning reviews I've read are all written up by bloggers, sounds too good to be true.

Spotted some errors in the write-ups also, seems more like it was written and vetted before posting but some parts got missed out.

I've booked for the exterior grooming, let's see how they fare.

In 2003 first time and last time use this type of paint protection system.
It can last 3yrs without waxing according to the installer, just use plain water wash will do.
After few months, not smooth anymore. Why?The road dirt and debris will stick to the car paint but paint work still look shining, only do not have the silk feeling anymore.
That's is why they want you to go back to do maintenance at a small fee.
And when one of my door send for respray, still need to pay $50 for the re-coating.
This type of liquid paint protection system with whatever type of hardness won't prevent any stone chip or scratch, don't waste your time.Temper glass for handphone is different. It is a physical thing so it can withstand certain impact.Do you think liquid after chemical bonding can withstand scratch? You are better off with those 3m film apply paint protection system.
Just wax every 2 to 3 month will do the job if you want the shine and silk feeling.
Since both methods also can't prevent scratches anyway.

These pictures all look the same when it's new car. I could take a picture of another new Mazda 2 and you won't be able to tell which one is coated and which one isn't :s13:
