[Advice] Upgrading Old Rig

Seems like the CPU+Mobo of my old rig (on the right) is gone... gotta replace

Budget $500-$600
(1) Mobo + CPU
(2) GFX

- Currently, gaming on a 22inch.
- Occasionally will output to my 24inch PlayStation TV

Notes:
(1) I have a 128SSD that I have yet to install
(2) Probably need to get a USB3 header for my casing

thinking of getting from Fortran (open for recommendations for specs)

I've seen some msi ones and another asrock one.

will the 270x offer a large jump over the 7870?

hmm worth paying a little more to get 4570 over 4440?

R9-270X is basically... just a rebrand of mildly (only-memory) overclocked HD 7870....

Go for whichever cheaper... Best option goes to 2nd hand sticks covered with local lifetime warranty as brand new sets DDR3 are still pricey these days..

For best experience, go with Intel Gigabit: simple and sweet. Killer NIC accompanied software can be buggy at times, though the motherboard is a beauty...

And with the cash to get that ASUS R9-280X, you can already upgrade and opt for a R9-290 offering you a near Titan-like performance experience.

hmm. just realized my present rig isn't as updated as I hope it would be

WD640GB Black is a SATA2 drive (3GB/s)
WD1TB Green is also a SATA2 drive (3GB/s)

should I retire them/conslidate them to a SATA3 (6GB/s) drive with better power consumption etc?

and yea the Gaming board is a beauty... and it seems like it has pretty decent onboard sound too!

but guess I'll just stick with Asrock... my Audinst USB DAC, Intel Gigabit and $40 in savings?

hmm if it makes any difference, the ASUS R9-280X comes with BF4 :/ Was thinking of the MSI model... but it seems like the ASUS has better cooling and some configurations that reduces low power coil whine
