I looking at getting a new com.
mainly for playing games, dota2 and other mmorpg.
budget $1200-1500.

Not sure if i should get a self-assembled desktop since i have no experience in that.
Appreciate all inputs.

Do you need OS and other peripherals?

IMO, self assembled PC offers more value if you are going for a gaming rig. The only problem is you have to do your own troubleshoot, should your PC choose to die on you one day.

well what you can do is get advice from the gurus around here on what parts to get, then buy them all from 1 shop and tell them to assemble for u. No hassle.

Sry real new to this stuff. What do you mean by peripherals?
If u mean monitor, keyboard, etc, i think i can get it on my own.
I do need a OS and MS office though.

Yeah by peripherals, I mean monitor, keyboard and etc. So the budget is strictly for the rig only?

i5-3570 & MSI Z77A-G43 GAMING

MSI GTX660 Twin Frozr

8GB Corsair 1600mhz

240GB Crucial M500 SSD
(Cost around $295+- , may get a 1TB HDD around 120 for the black cavair ones)

LG DVD Drive

Sharkoon T28 or any case you prefer
( Sharkoon T28 cost around $80+- )

Seasonic M12II 620W
(620W cost around 125 , the cheaper alternative will be 520W around 95)

Win 7

Total around $1.4K~ (Based on the SSD , 620W PSU and casing)
Will be only around $1.2~ , if you take the HDD and 520W PSU.

I'm using the GTX 660 card and able to max out settings on League of Legends with 60FPS. (Which is the highest I suppose as i chosen the "stable" FPS )
Crysis won't be able to max out but able to game at decent settings.

There's a Haswell processor out there you might want to take a look but i'm not sure if it's better or what.

You can play LoL with all graphics settings maxed at 1080p with a GTX 650 Ti.

League Of Legends: High Details, 5760x1080 : League Of Legends Performance, Benchmarked

Though if you're picking up more graphics-intensive MMOs (eg. Neverwinter), a HD7850 2GB or higher would be feasible. Depends on what resolution your monitor will run at, really.

Also, an Ivy Bridge i3 will suffice.

edit:

From PC Themes pricelist:
Intel Core i3 3220 + Asrock B75 Pro 3 M - $256
G.Skill Ripjaws-x 1600MHz CL9 4GBx2 - $95
Plextor M5P 128GB SATA-3 SSD - $169 (for programs/OS)
Seagate 2TB 64MB SATA-3 HDD - $117 (for data storage)
24X DVD-RW SATA - $25
Powercolor HD7850 2GB PCS+ (with Never Settle bundled games) - $267
Seasonic M12II 520W - $99
Xigmatek Midgard II ATX Case - $89
On-site assembly - $10

Total: $1127

Never Settle bundle game list: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/h...eloaded-details-asus-power-color-4117500.html

If you really want to spend the whole budget though, change the i3 to an i5 3470 (should be around $100 extra), and a better card (if your monitor is 1080p or above; otherwise get a better monitor).

CPU & Mobo: i5-4430 & Asrock B85M Pro 4 @ $352
Ram: Kingston 1600mhz value ram 8GB @ $76
ODD: Samsung DVD RW @ $21
HDD: WD Blue 1TB @ $80
SSD: Sandisk Extreme 240GB @ ~$200 (Amazon)
Amazon.com: SanDisk Extreme SSD 240 GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SDSSDX-240G-G25: Computers & Accessories
IMO, very cheap and decent SSD with abundant capacity to store your OS and important programs. I think this offer is only valid for 1 day.
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti Boost @ $250
Case: Sharkoon T28 @ $89
PSU: Seasonic S12 520W @ $89
OS: Windows 7 Home 64bit OEM @ $110

Total: $1267
Buy and build at Best Buy Computers.

Still have some left over budget, should be able to get you a IPS monitor. Can consider Dell U2312HM @ $250.
