Hi, i am building a new rig, hoping for advise for fellow bros here. Usage is mainly for gaming and VM ( GNS3 for networking devices ) Budget will be about 1200 +-100

CPU & Mobo: i5-4570 & Asrock B85M Pro 4 $372
Ram: Kingston 1600mhz value ram 4GBx2 $86 or 8gbx1 $76 - Will 2x4gb have better performance
SSD: Plextor M5P 256GB $169 - Is this the best value for buck if i want to have fast SDD
HDD: Thinking either WD Blue or Hitachi Enterprise. I want some that don't crash, hate to RMA even with under warranty.
GPU: Powercolor 7950 PCS+ $399
Case: Sharkoon T28 $87
PSU: Seasonic S12 520 Watts $89- dont know need to modular ( m12 ) or non-modular.

Thanks alot bro

Looks like a build good to go...

Modular if you want better cable management or fixing yourself. Easier. Else no difference..

Thanks bro, in that case, i will stick with non-modular.

Else for RAM, will it be better for 2x4gb for dual channel, better performance ?

As for SSD, Plextor M5P? Is it recommended or M5S will do ?

As for HDD, What will be most popular? Hitachi Enterprise or WD Blue.

Dual channel is faster than single channel and yes, M5P is best if you can afford it.

Plextor M5P 128GB costs $169 and M5S costs $139. If you are looking at Plextor M5P 256GB, it costs $289-$299.

Plextor M5S is more recommended for mainstream or budget users.

Dual or single channel has not much significant impact on gameplay but i'm not so sure about for VM.

For HDD, most shops in SLS are selling Hitachi Deskstar if i'm not wrong except for PC Themes selling Hitachi Enterprise. In PCT price list, hitachi enterprise costs roughly the same as wd blue, i will go for hitachi enterprise because it comes with 5 years warranty. :D

Is there a difference between deskstar and enterprise?

Well.. in that case, i will stick to M5P, since its only 30 bucks different. And since M5P has significant better performances over M5S.

As for HDD, i want something that is stable, i would rather have shorter warranty, then keep RMA for 5 years man. Haha. Hows the Hitachi failure rate ?

Love your last qns. And I guess no one can answer your qns since all hardwares are not the same. Trust your luck!

HI all bros,

Would like to seek advise, if FSP raider 550w be better then seasonic S12 520w, since both are already at the same price?

is 520 and 550 enough for my rig ?
