Advise on 1 year old rig

I have the pc below for close to a year and thinking of how much improvement that can upgrade to play latest game.

My current monitor is a 19 inch square and I play at resolution of 1280x1080. Games played l4d2, csgo and dota2. Should I keep using or upgrade. csgo would lag a bit old out but sometimes was smooth any advise.

Best to get minimum an i5, such as 7500, it will be compatible with the h110 mobo just that u have to flash it with updated bios. That way ram will be able to reuse. Game wise if that's all that u are aiming for, could consider getting 970/1060. If u want to play the latest games, can consider getting 1070/1080 at most. Depends on monitor too, will u be upgrading your monitor also? Is so, what resolution and what refresh rates?

i wonder which monitor using such resolutions : 1280*1080???

You should be able to see a huge gaming performance improvement if you can upgrade your gtx 460 to something like a 1060 3gb or 1070.

If getting 1070 highly recommend to upgrade your processor to something like a i5 7500 or i7 7700 to prevent bottlenecking the 1070.

Also highly recommend to upgrade your monitor to a 23/24 or 27 inch monitor that is capable of at least displaying 1080p resolution or 1440p so your games can run at that kind of resolution to make the full use out of your 1070 if you ever were to get 1070.

Then again if you only play cs go, dota 2 , l4d2 your current rig should be fine and adequate for your 19 inch 1280x 1080 resolution monitor.

Just to add, actually the first thing I think you should change is your monitor try change to at least a 1080p capable monitor before you think about upgrading that cpu or gpu else really no point. Unless of course you are fine with 19 inch 1280x1080 resolution.

A good budget combo if you plan to play new AAA titles would be the 1060 3gb + G4560 cpu + a decent 1080p capable monitor (preferably dell for the good on site support and good durability and lifespan of dell monitor)

it should do csgo just fine. suspect is some background process running and taking up cpu usage.

major limitation is cpu. the g4400 has 2 threads only. a gtx460 will do 1280x1024 fine, though it's still rather old.

most games requires 4 threads for computation nowadays, most programs will use 4 threads or more. a g4400 will bottleneck even the gtx700 series. a g4560, even though it's only 30% faster, will feed up to a gtx1060 3gb on modern cpu intensive titles.

what you what to change depends on your budget, game type and target performance/resolution. but priority would be cpu 1st.

TS only has to change cpu and GPU so it depends on his Budget
