1) Please name all computer-aided manufacturing software and simulation software that you will be using. Will you be doing much rendering when using these softwares? Quite a number of software in these categories have optimized drivers for professional grade GPUs and if you are rendering using these softwares, you have got to get a professional grade GPU for decent performance. Unfortunately, if using professional grade GPU, you can forget about gaming as professional grade GPUs are terribad for gaming. May be able to get away with gaming grade GPUs if not doing render heavy tasks or if the software drivers itself is not biased towards any series of GPUs.

2) Are you using this more for work or more for leisure? The final optimized build may depend on your use pattern.

3) Consider the i7-4790 instead of the E3-1241v3 as the i7 has slightly better performance than the Xeon and the Xeon only shines if you want to use different sets of RAM in one system due to the Intel Flex memory access feature in Xeons. I think the extra $$$ spent would be worth it as you will be needing all the CPU processing power that your system can muster. Also, I think the shops in SLS are selling the E3-1245v3, it will still lose to the i7 though.

Intel Xeon E3-1245 v3 vs Core i7 4790

4) You are using your rig for quite a lot of content creation and engineering, get 16GB RAM at least as more RAM would be useful in content creation and engineering especially in rendering or computational heavy tasks. May want to get Win 7 Professional or Win 8 for superior RAM support if you are going to need 32GB RAM. (Win 7 Home Premium can only support max 16GB RAM.)

5) Can you name this aluminium GT casing that you are using? (ie. brand, model etc.)

1) just testing and trying it out when i am free, not really important. Was thinking of getting a 3D printer too but that another subject

the software: Elmer, Freemat , Probotix, some other freeware i stop using for a few year.

2) leisure

3) the E3-1241 v3 is cheaper by around $30 if i buy from amazon. i am ok with i7 4790 or i7 4790k or E3-1241 v3 (was waiting for black friday deciding which of these 3 are having offer)

4) lot of content creation and engineering software are for leisure only, i use it when i am free so not really important
i using win 7 ultimate

5)i got no idea about this, the invoice did not say any model number, but i have taken a picture of it.

the reason i get this casing is cause since it full alu, there no need for me to buy casing again, it been 7- 8year not a single rust. could not find the brand or nothing come out when i google it. hope it help

Oh, if you are just using freeware, engineering software for fun, you can use a gaming grade GPU since speed and quality of rendering is not that imporatant. Just get 16GB RAM as that amount of RAM would always be useful for content creation, whether for fun or for work. If not overclocking, no need K-CPU, can save $$$. Other than that, your parts are fine.

CPU wun have offer in SG. As for GPU, if its new gen, gt chance it may have some small discounts locally. If its from amazon, lower chance since new gpu just launched nia. Unless u referring to old gpus.

i5-4460 + 970.. Best price-performance ratio.

The extra mhz from 4460 to 4590 isnt worth it. 980 is overly priced in SG. 970 hits the sweet spot for performance and price.

i got no plan to get from SG other then the motherboard and for gpu depend on how much the price different is.

BTW how much real life different between 4460 and 4790

i am planing my rig to last on average 5 to 8 year.

my current rig is intel dg33fb mobo with core 2 duo E6650

gpu is 5600 series (i think, brought 3 to 4 yr ago when my gpu from 2008 spoil)

thanks

Ur rig wun last dat long if u plan to play high end games for the next 5-8 yrs.

Also, getting all in sg is 100% much cheaper than overseas. If u get mobo amd cpu seperately, u are paying more as compared to getting it as a bundle.

For gpu, price diff is less than $100 for the 970. But u get local warranty. Unless u know how to ship to usa for less than $10, otherwise its nt worth it.

for high end games i can always upgrade my gpu.

if i do that say 4 year later, will is or i7 is a better option.

ok i will compare sls bundle and stand alone price with amazon (black friday) check which is cheaper.
