Hi guys,

Planning to upgrade my computer and was wondering if Tradepac or PC Themes will assemble partial systems? (i.e. use my existing SSD, HDD, DDR4 RAM etc etc). Specifications are as follows:

i7-6700k + Gigabyte G170x Gaming 7 - $872
Coolermaster Hyper 212x CPU Cooler - $55
Gigabyte GTX970 4GB G1 Gaming - $610
Super Flower Leadex 80+ Platinum Power Supply (Modular) 650W - S$160
Coolmaster 690 III with Side Window - $134
Scythe Gentle Typhoon Fan x 2 pcs on top for exhaust $23 x 2 - $46

Total S$1,877

Any thoughts on specs/pricing also welcome. Primarily using for video-editing, photoshop, lightroom, surfing, office work and some gaming.

How heavy is the video-editing? If occasional, just drop to i5-6600k and OC it. If frequent, suggest u get i7-5820k + MSI X99 SLI Plus.

And yes, PC Themes assembles partial systems. Just give them the rest of the parts u wanna recycle when they build the rig for you. But I suggest u try assembling it yourself rather than pass to someone to build it for you.

Video editing only occasional. Probably can consider the i5-6600k suggestion as well.

i7-5820k has more cores and would be better for video-editing. But the MSI X99 SLI Plus motherboard may not offer the latest in connectivity options (USB 3.1, Type A / C ports, Thunderbolt 3 etc)

Not an easy choice

For the MSI X99 SLI Plus, it has USB3.1 Type A. The newer refresh version (MSI X99A SLI Plus), not the older version (MSI X99S SLI Plus).

For type-C, currently no X99 motherboard has, at least not at your budget level. But currently there are third-party solutions in the market that allows for a front-bay USB3.1 Type A and Type C panel (5.25" bay) via SATA Express connection. ASRock has it for their Z170 Extreme 7+ board and I think it may be made available as a standalone product in the near future.

There is no need for Thunderbolt 3 products unless u r somehow stuck in the Apple ecosystem. Thunderbolt 3 is mainly targeted at Apple users and Windows users usually have workarounds, like DisplayPort for display, USB3.1 for usb connectivity, RJ45 Gigabit port for LAN, etc. I believe thunderbolt 3 can be purchased as a PCIe add-in-card if u really need it in future.
