[Advise] SQ Ticket Upgrade

Hey guys need some advise.

I booked 2 adults and 1 child Economy Lite tickets to London for next month on SQ.

Recently we found out that my wife is expecting(hurray!) and I wanted to try and get the tickets upgraded to business using my 260k airmiles. so far the overseas call center and online chat are telling me its impossible.

is it really though? would appreciate if any of you frequent flyers can give me some advice. thanks!

Upgradeability of tickets depends on fare class and you need to have flexible (read - expensive) tickets to be able to upgrade to next class of service.

Apart above, using SQ miles to upgrade is really a waste because difference how many miles are required between upgrade and booking award ticket is not that different. In other words, booking award ticket would be better use of your miles.

So, if you can book award ticket (check availability online) and you can cancel your ticket with some nominal fee (like $150), that would be better way to deal with this situation.

P.Eco >>> Biz class
Biz class >>> first class /suite (if available

Since your flight is SQ direct to London. SQ uses either Boeing777 (old) or A380(new)

If yours is the Boeing777, then it is possible to bid for an upgrade to biz class or pay for an upgrade.

But if it's the A380 plane, it has Eco, P.Eco, Biz class and first class

Then you can only upgrade to P.eco

Unfortunately you're out of luck. SQ economy lite fares are not upgradeable with KF miles. And what invisible suggested won't work either because they aren't cancellable.

Yup, I think you can call to request for paid upgrade using cash. Say some excuse like you didn’t see properly and booked wrongly
