Hi,

What's an affordable, basic mechanical keyboard? My IBM Model M finally has a few wonky keys...after surviving 25 years.

Hmm, when I mentioned "affordable" I was hoping it'd be less than $99 :)

i used to get this lousy cheap mechanical keyboard but the build quality just isn't there and it is always on the verge of spoiling. didn't enjoy using it.

got a ~$110 rosewill blue mx after that and thoroughly enjoy it. you just know it will last a good ten years.

mechanical keyboard is one of those things that you should spend a little more to get a trusted model, rather than a cheaper one.

it's gonna last you for 10 years and beyond. spend that extra $30-$40 dollars. it's worth it.

I agree with yunnie, I have a blackwidow ultimate which I had used since day 1 and its still working VERY well.

Spend abit more, can go a longer journey..

Well, I don't game anymore, just really like the IBM Model M, and understand that mechanical keyboards give a similar feel, but I can't justify spending too much on it. I guess I'll check ebay.

The nearest "cheap" alternative to a IBM Model M keyboard: Unicomp

I wanted to get one but have no idea for the life of me what I will do with my current mechanical keyboard.

Could it be the Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z? I'm using that now and I really like it. Got it on amazon for about S$85 and it's really the cheapest mechanical keyboard out there. Loud and clicky the way I like it. The nice blue backlit light is a nice bonus too.

Nope, got the Aula Ghost King 104 instead. :)

Glad to know you like yours with the same switches as mine. Coming from a Model M, I like mine loud and clicky as well.
