Aftershock Aeon 32R AIO PC

Think of buying. Anyone can comment on this?

Just an ITX rig mounted on a screen. I'm not a fan of curved monitors and AIO.

If you wonder, it's a full desktop rig as mentioned above, by using ITX form factor motherboard and psu. It's pretty warm. Monitor is based of microboard like their Prism+ monitors. Benefit is it is an AIO. Less cables, everything at one place. What I dislike is that any problem you need to ask Aftershock settle for you, which will have longer down time compared to my personal normal rig which I can (and know) how to troubleshoot and isolate the problem immediately rather than depend on someone else to do for me which takes time and money.

Generally i have always thought of anything that uses a dedicated GPU as a bad idea to put inside a AIO enclosure.

The AIO will either overheat and shutdown after an extended PUBG session, or the thermal throttling will be way beyond what most people are willing to tolerate

On site warranty means they come to your place isn't it?

If it is carry in warranty, then you will need to lug it to the service center. Laptops from Aftershock by default comes with carry in warranty.

Personally, I like the idea of AIO since you don't have that many cables around. However, the reality is that there are quite a number of drawbacks as well. Heat is certainly one, especially when you have a high end CPU and dedicated graphic card in there. Also, if the monitor is faulty, it will pretty much render the system useless. You can connect another monitor to the graphic card, but you will have a 32 inch desktop under or on your desk.

Just ordered one for my dad. Can't find one AIO with such large screen at that price. Having a gaming Gfx card doesn't hurt.

Hope the machine is reliable.

I chose GTX1060 6GB as it will only be used for gaming 10% of the time at best.

The computer will only be available in about 3 weeks, which I understand is the standard practice.

BTW, do think water-cooling is worth the $85 upgrade? Apparently it is not a "recommended" option.. Thx.

The Aftershock gallery shows an opened-up 32R. That should imply that it shouldn't be too painful to disassemble the unit for future upgrades.

I won't mind getting one for my parents. Saves me the burden of having to assemble an entire machine, hunting for power outlets and managing the cables and desk space. And also upgradeable to a certain extent with newer parts.

Some would deem it less tedious, I find it more tedious if parts were to breakdown. Also, 32" is a big screen. Building a FD node 202 would not use more space than Aftershock Aeon with a similar monitor. Also, Aeon don't have speakers if I remember correctly.

As long as the parts are standard PC components and chassis is designed to be user-serviceable, breakdown/repair should not be a major concern.

Speakers can be easily be added; USB-powered ones are very affordable.

I hope heat will not be an issue, thus the earlier question if water-cooling is necessary..

It is not so much as tedious than the CID part

You open an AIO. better have a nice big area
Put on lappy, press against lcd screen
Something goes wrong
You return, and voila . Customer Induced Damage " Warranty VOID.
Costs " price of new screen " to replace the AIO screen
Want to use the CPU component on a different screen? Maybe can maybe cannot.

Then have to make space for a second screen...

The pc part ain't the biggest concern though. If the screen have issue, it's a dead weight.

If my AIO screen breaks down and Aftershock insisted that it cannot be repaired or charge exorbitantly, rest assured that it will be very well publicized.

How far can you go publicly anyway........

Another thing to take note is that it cant be VESA mounted, so your table needs to have space to accomodate monitor legs.

Went down their show room
Wasnt impressed by the service. One aeon spoilt on display. Claim spoilt during pcshow.lol
Guess risks very high buying aio

if getting for parents, why not just buy a simple laptop? then add a monitor if they want to a larger view.
