Aftershock vs Dell Alienware OEM Desktops

Hi all, looking at getting pre-built desktops and comparing between Aftershock and Dell desktops below. I plan to use it for gaming and abit of video editing. I tried to make my desired specs based on these 2 prebuilts to have like for like comparisons. Aftershock only has 32gb RAM option available but still the price is almost the same as the Dell Alienware.

The way i see it is that Dell has better CPU cooling with the Cyrotech Liquid cooler and better after care support, while Aftershock has better RAM and offers customisability in the future if i want to upgrade.

But hope to get gurus comparisons as well. Is there anything i am missing here? What would you recommend i go for?

The Alienware only issue is loud fan according to review.

2) Get quote from Sim Lim Square will be better if you want to DIY.
The Aftershock build isn't good, the RAM, hard disk are entry level type.

The issue is these days RTX3000 cost few thousand dollar so probably half of the price
goes to the graphic card.
Just a tip, since graphic card are overpriced.

Configure a PC that is within your budget than whatever left than see what graphic card
can fit with the remaining budget.
Going for prebuild despite limited upgrade path but at least you won't be overpaying for the GPU.

I will take the Aftershock. The GPU is FHR (please confirm with Aftershock) while the Dell one is LHR. The GPU is the most expensive item in the build and should carry the most weight in your evaluation.

There is also double the amount of RAM. 32GB of DDR5-4800 is expensive.

Downside is the cooling. I would replace it with a Noctua or liquid cooler.

The only oem parts for aftershock is the cooler, it's basically a builder. I would go with aftershock, easier to diy upgrade or rip the parts out to sell later down the road.

i believe its the other way around, most big brand oem still using fhr dies while our local si switch to lhr le.

Doesn't matter whether its LHR or FHR or RHD or LHD to be honest. The most important is RTX3XXX.

I would go for the aftershock and change to a better cooler that's all.

Between the 2, Aftershock for me. However, I do want to point out that the NZXT H510 has a solid front panel, and is notoriously bad when it comes to airflow. The Dell however, is not going to be any better. The worst part is you don't know if you are going to get some proprietary parts and also commonly, poor quality parts.

I thought most RTX 3080 out in the wilds now are LHR. So even though AS did not mentioned it on their spec sheet, I suspect it may be LHR by default.

Yes, which is why I mentioned to confirm with Aftershock.

I haven't seen enough actual sale figures to put a number on the difference.

If u get bundle parts from sls the price is usually quite good. But ram and gpu is the killer now.

Pls don't take dell, their case airflow sucks... Airflow is important, more so in Singapore



You can request aftershock to change ur case while retaining the other parts. Just did mine like that. So far given ur budget, I would recommend to go for "Lian li lancool 2 mesh performance" case. It has the best airflow thermals.

no difference in gaming. at most 2 fps difference lol

Getting the 3080 is more important.
