As Thawn mentioned, what he had was the advantage of time. Everything he did was a delaying tactic as he knew he couldnt tank 3 Jedis (esp when he shite brick upon finding out that Ahsoka was Vader's apprentice)

The TIE knocking out their shuttle and giving him their rough location secured him time, so he was ok with it

Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi served as a High Jedi General. He is the mentor of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker whom served as a Jedi General.

Ahsoka never got to finish her training, shes technically still a Padawan by the end of the Clone Wars

Baylan as u mentioned has alot more experience, been already a full fledged Knight and General during the Clone Wars. Enough for even Thawn to recognise his name (and Thawn has little patience for the weak)

Which is why Anakin came to continue her training in the WBW
