Savings is a significant 50% and yet you get better throughput, which is main reason many are flocking towards them from bigger mainstream brands ASUS, like me.

Previously I was using ASUS RT-AC68U, now changed to this. 5GHz improves to 100% full bar coverage across entire HDB 4 room flat, end to end, and throughput improved to 400-450 Mbps, consistent throughout entire flat. All on Wireless-AC (WiFi 5) mode 2x2 MIMO. Not even WiFi 6. Paid just $116.

With ASUS RT-AC68U, I could only get 2 bars from corner bedroom and toilet, throughput between 100-350 Mbps, using identical device for performance measurement.

Even the $220+ ASUS RT-AX58U cannot match the throughput as this Xiaomi AX3600. It's a no brainer choice as long as I don't require bell and whistles.

In short, cheap enough to junk away when spoil, fast enough to dismiss other choices.

**** I only use 3 mths ax3600 wifi amplifier chip got problem? wifi no output signal... export set sucks:(

Dunno if worth repairing local or just another new set :s12: Haiz

Any cheap router repair shop?

I would stay away from Xiaomi and Huawei bro. For now at least. You have so many brands with so much more experience in home networking products, like ASUS, NETGEAR etc. How much could you possibly save?

The savings are significant. To you maybe $100-$200 is not much, but the Xiaomi routers performance are quite on par with the higher end Asus ones.

Asus didn't really hit it big on routers until they struck gold with their RTN-16 roughly 10yrs ago only la. Since then , they have gotten complacent and their high end routers suffer nonsensical problems. Seriously, no one expects to pay $499 or $599 and then get problems like 5G network missing etc. Yup, this is the rubbish you have to put up with after paying top dollar for Asus.

As for Netgear, they were mostly meh until their Nighthawk series came along.

I am a user with no brand allegiance. I just look for the best bang for buck consumer router. From the venerable Linksys WRT54G to Engenius 9850, been trying them all. The Xiaomis and Huaweis are simply the best value for money ones now just like these before them.

Huawei AX3 and AX3 Pro as well as Honor 3 captured 60% of WiFi 6 router market share in the first half year of 2020 in mainland China.

Xiaomi is also very good with 18% market share with AX3600, AX1800 and Redmi AX5.

Hi all, where can I get the Xiaomi router? Is Taobao my best option?

Taobao is one way, now seems got no offer and the price is RMB599 (S$120), adding GST and shipment, it will be S$130+.

Maybe it is easier to buy from Shopee. The following is just one quick link at S$135 and the review seems to be okay.

Check out NEW Xiaomi AX3600 AIoT Router Wifi 6 5G Wifi6 600Mb Dual-Band 2976Mbs Gigabit Rate Qualcomm A53 CPU External 5G Signal Amplifier at 55% off! $135.00 only. Get it on Shopee now! https://shopee.sg/product/49616982/5127616223?smtt=0.0.9

Avoid Lazada vendor named "mhfQ" who seems to offer AX3600 at very low price, much the same as the infamous "cb1" (from who you get a watch instead of the router).

For Singtel not possible to set APs as mesh?

You may try the trick here to see if works or not.

1) Connect main AX3600 to the main SingTel router (ONR, or VLAN enabled main router if you are using ONT).

2) Set the main AX3600 in router mode, then set up mesh properly with another AX3600.

3) After that, switch the main AX3600 to custom AP mode (disable dhcp, connect to main router using LAN port and not WAN port).

You will need to use the web ui to access the main AX3600 using its IP address assigned by the main router.

Thank you! Have ordered the router and can't wait for it to arrive. Any recommendations on AX-compatible wifi adapters?

Check out comfast brand. They have cheap and good adapters for both laptop and desktop. Cheaper than branded like Asus or TP-Link, more reliable than the no brand ones.

I bought this router and not aware that the new broadband service I signed up in Australia needs vlan100 (HFC). I have been googling upside down for guides and tips on how to configure this AX3600 to make it work, but going no where.

Most appreciate for all your tips, advice and help in this headache.

Many thanks in advance.

AX3600 does not support vlan. Period.

You can try to add a smart switch like TP-Link SG105E in front.

Ref: for SingTel vlan, for your reference

if you are right, then this is harsh as I bought two of them for meshing purposes.

Also just followed Darren TechTalk's video showing how to do vlan tagging for AX3600 and for some reason it still won't work for me. I will ask him about it.

only the main router connected to your ont/modem needs to be connected through a smart switch. the mesh unit does not need vlan capability!

as you mentioned the handoff on your hfc modem is dhcp and not pppoe, unfortunately you cant simply edit the config file as such setting is unstable for dhcp. the best option is still to put your hfc modem into bridge mode with vlan detagged, or to get a smart switch

Looks like this is a dead end for me. I certainly do not want an addition device in the house.

Is vlan absolutely required for all HFC type or it is up to the ISP themselves?
