Price comparable and both brands are equally popular in here.

Daikin has WiFi built in. ME don't have. For me reliability trumps over tech for long run operational and cost consideration.

Both has same btu for fcu and compressor. End of the day, do you want more tech, given price for both isn't too far apart?

I took ME. But due to the current manpower shortage,my renovation slow down and I couldn't provide a review till its fully setup

mitsubishi electric vs daikin..... Which one will you guys recommend

I am using 26k BTU Youme with system 5 compressor. My setup is system 4.

oh yours is the bigger compressor i think .. I was told the normal system 3 and 2 cannot :o

In the end I got 2 system 3 instead ... and opt 18k + 9k for living room

Is it a no brainer to just pick the lower kwh choice ? (Assuming the brand, pricing, features is ok and nothing majorly wrong with the model). What am I missing?

Some brands are consistently 3.x kwh (2 ticks) while some brands can go to 1.x kwh (3 ticks), it looks quite clear to me which one to pick leh?

-Model year.........in 5~10 years, will i able to get new/used parts on the market for repair?
-market share.....there are hundreds aircon company and thousands tech, will there be someone experience in your aircon model. this is crucial as mishandling during maintenance will damage your aircon.

do u on aircon during the day?
do u or ur family scare of cold?
is u or ur family light sleeper?

9k btu is technically more than enough for room. If ur config is overkill, basically u're wasting electricity, cost u more for maintenance and clammy..
best u consult the professional for best config suitable your home.

this is why some ppl will buy deflector....

May I know if there are any recommendations for contractor to just install the aluminium sheet for waterproofing?

Currently what I have is just a piece of wood which resulted in leaking into the room due to the prolonged raining.

Thank you.
Deciding between daikin or ME. ME is 3 ticks.

Hard to tell whether the btu recommendation from sales guy is genuinely fits the situation or sales driven.....

I engaged Fortuna Air-Conditioning & Electrical, they are the authorised Daikin Proshop installers. I wouldn’t comment on the charge but the additional materials are not expensive, you can get a roll of aluminium tape for 5 bucks and a sheet of foam for less than 10 bucks at CCM.

The whole silver thing is aluminum tape wrapped around it? Or a combination of foil and tape? It's a lot of taping lol

By foam, do you mean those types used as packaging materials to protect fragile items?

They used only aluminium tape, the bottom side is an adhesive while foil is not. Insulation sheet can be the foam used for packaging materials, after all the tape has already fully wrapped the insulation foam.

Firstly it’s better to get the compressor checked out if it’s getting noisy. I am using Daikin MKS80 and at full load with 4 FCUs on, there is only a slight noise but the noise is gone when the MBR window is closed.

hi want to seek advice from this thread if anyone had similar experience

am living in 4R HDB currently using ME system 3 for my living room (24K) + 2BR (9K)... compressor is CU-MXY 3A28VA (28K BTU)

let's say I want to change to system 4, will any vendor out there be willing to change just the compressor and add one FCU in my 3rd BR and use back the piping for the 3 existing FCU?

actually, if it is even possible, I want to just add another FCU for the 3rd BR and seal off my living room FCU because totally no use at all... i move in 4 years don't know got on more than 10 times anot... but i'm guessing no vendor would be willing to do this kind of low budget job

i know its abit weird to ask now that the weather literally don't need aircon... just want to plan ahead before my tenant move out and i want to install aircon in the room for my kid to use... any alternative advice also appreciated!

You can try asking those vendors who deal with second hand aircon, they should be willing to assist you. Yours is the old model starmex which they don't sell new sets anymore so likely have to settle for second hand cu/fcu if you want to keep existing system.

Actually now the weather best time to do aircon work cos low demand, they not so busy.

Sure have vendor will do this job cos not a very small job, they need to run new pipes and wire from compressor to 3rd bedroom, drill and install the plate for the 3rd bedroom FCU, pump down, vaccum and recharge with refrigerant.

Easiest way is to remove the living room FCU and shift it to 3rd bedroom and run new pipe and wire to the 3rd bedroom

If you want to reuse back old living room piping, most likely need to braze to extend the pipes but wiring cannot be extended so might as well run a new set

Some consideration is does your existing trunking have space to put in 1 more set of pipes and wire?

If need to run new trunking to 3rd bedroom, you thought of how and where to run it?

If you remove the living room FCU, there will be drilled holes and likely the end of a trunking is exposed. Can they help you patch up and paint properly?
