Hi. I have just recently finished renovated my 3 room hdb and thinking of performing maintenance on my system 2 aircon as I used back the aircon from previous owner since it is still relatively new.
Am thinking should I go for a normal general cleaning or to go with chemical cleaning?
I'm afraid of the chemicals leaking into my apartment since it is a newly renovated hdb and my toilet is quite small for such intensive cleaning. I worry the chemicals spill out to thr floor will cause damage to my floor tiles.

How to determine whether i should go for general or chemical cleaning?

Chemical cleaning is just using mild detergents, it will not damage floor tiles. For FCU used daily, recommended to go for chemical overhaul every 1-2 years. Chemical overhaul is not the same as chemical cleaning as it requires the FCU to be removed and the parts dismantled for cleaning. General cleaning is just washing the external filters, it just a simple cleaning that you can do it yourself.

Hi, can I ask if there’s any rules on aircon installation in HDB flat on a Saturday? My concerns are the drillings which I am not sure if it would be very loud. I checked HDB website but only mentioned renovation matters.

They will first drill the holes they need. Most of the time would be spent on the pulling of the pipes and setting up the unit. I did mine on a Saturday.

My regular aircon service guy told me the water heater power point is 15 amp. Seem to me the same as the typical power amp for aircon.

Hi, anyone knows for replacement installation of new aircon units, do the installers usually carry out vacuum, flushing pressure and electrical testing of the new systems? Or are these procedures mainly for repairs and maintenance only? Thank you.

For new compressors, do they come with R32 gas prefilled inside alrdy?

On installation didnt see a gas tank to pump in, but there was the pressure gauge thing - installer mentioned only a vacuum to remove debris/dirt, and gas is prefilled...

Earth wire is connected to the metal chassis of the FCU, this is to prevent the risk of electrical shock if the live wire touches the metal chassis.

I got quoted over the weekend from courts for ME and Daikin and found their pricing competitive and fairly transparent but i read online that their installation is outsourced thus the risk of a lemon (only GC has inhouse installer?)

another i found was jex aircon online also with attractive pricing but found a few bad reviews.

i am still waiting for mega discount.

anyway i noticed each retailer featuring installation materials from different brands. As i gathered for insulation Armaflex/Armacell is branded and best known (mega, gc, jex, prism and some installers featured that), how about k-flex (italian brand featured by courts) and thermaflex (dutch brand featured by denki)? any gurus and expert care to share?

i found some info on k-flex (comparable to armaflex apparently) but nothing in thermaflex.
