just sharing my small experience scouting for air-con.

Went to this shop called best tech at toa payoh. Asked the salesman price for sys 4 for Toshiba. He told me $3899. Ask him about ME. He said same price. Ask him about daikin. He said same price. How can they all have same price:(:( Not sure whether he is trolling me. Ask him for G22 copper pipe he say cannot. Now use G23??

Went to courts Toa Payoh. They don't carry Toshiba and daikin. Cost $4299 for ME and only one year warranty.
U can find out at the price at Saturday The Straits Times news paper ,Many promotion coming out . Take your time lipo99 :) . important is to check how long is the workmanship warranty :)

hi guys, I have got a big job coming up. Need to replace all my aircon in my 13 years old apartment.

Went to Gain City the other day and they gave me an offer for Panasonic. Does anyone how reliable is Panasonic as compare to say Daikin or Mitsubishi.

Also beside GC, where else is a good place to shop. Credit is not require, just want good price, post sales service and installation

Here are the short description:/-

Panasonic air conditioners may potentially be on the short list for best air conditioner. Quality, energy efficiency, and low-noise make it an affordable choice with great value.

Mitsubishi is one of the best air conditioners on the market. If your looking for mini-split ductless air conditioner that is durable, quiet, efficient and long-lasting, the Mitsubishi air conditioner is your best bet!

You may get quote from Gain City, Courts or Best Denki.

Just curious, how big is your big job? Panasonic is made in Malaysia, Mitsubishi and Daikin in Thailand. Like I mentioned, go to dealers direct instead of megastores as aircon is just another product from their shop, they ain't the specialist. :D

I got a total of 9 blowers and I intend to change all the piping as well.

2 for master bedroom
3 for 3 bedroom
1 for study room
2 for living room
1 for dining room

7 are sharp (13 years old) 2 units are panasonic (about 5 years old)
My plan was to change the 7 units.

Between Courts, Gain City and Best Denki, which company is better at doing installation and after sale service?

GC was also trying to sell me extended warranty. Is that worth getting?

Hi guys, for 25 square meter room, if using 24/7, 9000 BTU single split inverter enough? since on 24/7 means do not need to take into account the slow time required to cool the larger space right?

9,000 BTU will be enough if you are require to be comfortable only, maybe in a bit lower degrees.
But if you consider for cool air, will prefer 18,000 BTU as well.

Is $400 installtion charge per "FCU" (Fan Coil Unit) for concealed trunking reasonable?

Hi,
My 5 year old ac system just quitted and I decided to get 2 sets of Fujitsu inverter "System 2" for my 2 storey terrace from GC (AMK).

System comprises of 2 sets of Outdoor Compressor (AOAG24LAT3) and 4 sets of 12000 BTU Indoor Unit (ASAG12LJ).

I was quoted $2419 X 2= $4838 for the above-mentioned "System 2" X 2 sets.

However, I was quoted a separate installation charge of $400 for each "Indoor Unit", meaning a total of $1600 ($400 X 4) for "Concealed Trunking"

I was further told that if the site survey confirms that the trunking is "Exposed Surface Trunking" (there may be a price reduction for the installation charges ( $200 X 4=$800).

My question is :

1> Are the quoted installation charges reasonable? I have seen Ads for a similar build for less than $5k. With the installation charges, I am paying $6438

2> Should the entire installation be implemented in 1 or 2 installation days? (Some advise that the 1st day is for laying the trunking, then the 2nd day is for the actual installation of the compressor/Indoor Unit)?

3> GC gave me a complimentary upgrade to "3/4" Armaflex Insulation & Copper Pipe "Gauge 22" (from "Gauge 23").
As a layman, is there a way for me to verify whether the installation Team is giving me the actual upgraded materials?
How can I tell the difference?

4> Is it worthwhile to take up GC Extended Warranty to 5 years (unlimited spare parts + unlimited Labour Charge for compressor & Indoor Units) at $399 per "System 2" ?
What I meant is has anybody had any negative experience with GC when they had to call GC for repairs?

Thanks for reading this. Would appreciate any advice on the above. I read some negative reviews on GC and so feeling worried.

The price quite higher!!
1. Price should included installation + dismantle and some of warranty.
2. Installation can be done in 1 day if exposed surface trunking, 2 days above for concealed trunking.
3. & 4. I will PM you on this.
