probably not interested to do that

either on low/sleep. or just blast it n clean up the room lol

Companies like Sharp or even tiongs like Mfresh bother to do it properly.

Sharp - Low Medium High. Auto mode. Turbo mode. Haze mode, even the old KC-840/850/860 got....it's a mode that alternates between medium and High medium, something like that.

Mfresh - Low, Medium, High, Turbo jet, Auto.

IQAir - 6 fan speeds.

I just got the AX40.
Actually don't understand what's the sleep mode and auto mode.
And the button with 3 secs thing.

The manual not very detailed in that.

:s22: kinda ... nvm
sleep mode is lowest fan rotary, aka silent mode
auto mode is adjust speed of fan according to the sensor, red spin faster, white spin slower.

So lydat, i should use auto?

What about the button with 3 sec thing?

use what speed is up to you to decide mah.
we can only give our experiences, i'd get use to the high speed noise and just stick to it.
to reset the alarm.
when prompt u to change filter.

the manual from http://goo.gl/KnKO1v is essentially the same one

Those people who bought from Goni in Qoo10 during the free filter, is the free one original or compatible?

I didn't buy, but I was looking at it.

According to the reviews and comments, GoniGlobal gave the compatible filter aka filter with no box and squeezed into main unit box.

I think that filter is OEM from samsung, just no box.
Saw from a Q&A somewhere during that time.

But alot of ppl complaining that the filter is out of shape or damaged since the squeezed it into the the main unit box.

Your own preference. I personally don't mind auto, but my wife finds the fan stepping from high > low a bit distracting, so we end up using high fan speed whole night.

After you clean/replace the filter as required, you can hold the button for 3 sec to reset it the alarm so that it doesn't stay on or keep blinking.

**** man, kinda regret buying from him. I suspect he got it from Taobao.

Hope it won't be like the RMB29 filter with reduced performance.

I was regretting last time didn't utilize my $50 coupon to buy from him
:s13: :s13:

Seriously after coupon around 250+ ?
Think now don't have such price and $50 coupon already, with or without the extra filter.
Now I see cheapest 280+ and cannot use coupon...

BTW on taobao i found a few cheap filters with keyword ax40 三星空气净化器滤芯

I think some already compatible and custom made to the size, those okay or not? Only thing is no carbon

Question: Is there a problem with the voltage and frequency difference if we purchase set from korea (220V / 60hz) versus singapore (230V / 50hz).

Previously bought a juicer and found motor heats up fast but not a heavy usage, but for Air purifier it is probably in use much longer.

No, the extra AX40 filter is a compatible made in korea version. It is not those Taobao versions made with PP material which has a slightly lower efficiency at about 95% (just put it that way, some are much higher at 99%, it depends and i cannot confirm what kind of stuff do you have), and also flows lower in airflow (due to higher restriction) when comparing at the same filter thickness.

If one is bothered by all these, just spend the extra $$ and get the original Samsung?

Edit - Just to be sure, i think we all know that the price difference that we are talking about is like what...10 times or 1000%? This matters a lot for long term users, in which many are in this thread.

The AX40 is operating on a switch-mode psu, which powers the 380Vdc NIDEC brand motor, which is excellent. The SMPS would be the one heating up, if any.... I found none, plus extended operation esp during 2015with several days literally 24hrs each day and typical 12-18hrs daily since the beginning of 2014 (2yrs operation) no issue at all.

So the Made in Korea compatible ones are only less than 5% inefficient?
