Just collected my TB filter for Sharp...

So it's rated for 50W+ in the Novita 620? 350mm x 245mm is ok if can squeeze in 45mm depth.

I have no idea how they squeeze out the extra juice. Overloading the DC motor? I think spec'ed 55W on turbo, which I hardly use due to the noise.

I just bought an high density ac filter for my xiaomi ap for $40 from qoo10 after all the coupons. I don't see how difficult it is to get spare filters.

if people can buy ax40 from qoo10 why can't that find the filters for xiaomi filters?

That's nice we have easy access to that. A few folks to spoke to in China who has the Xiaomi AP tells me to get the original filter from the Xiaomi website, you have to do the flash sale process too. Of course there Taobao at inflated prices too if you want the original.

Guess what, I took a peep at the NAP620i DC motor and it looks strikingly similar... to the one in AX40! The one in AX40 is rated 31W but the one in NAP620i rated 20W (which is the spec'ed wattage for high).

Fan blade used is different.

You cant just compare the motor alone.

Power consumption is dependable on motor efficiency and fan blade angle.

Ya, that is what I considered before buying xiaomi whether I can get local access to the filters and I found the place I bought also sells the filters at a reasonable price $40-$50 (standard vs high density AC).

Compared to my original sharp a50 hepa $110 is not fight even if xiaomi ap uses more electricity, the cheaper filter makes up for it unless you want to buy customised hepa from Taobao.

Then try again.

Read from Taobao website about xiaomi AP. Some buyers also say got weird smell...
One of them sun and air then smell gone.

I smell my xiaomi filter, the smell seems to come from the AC side rather than the hepa side.

It is the same smell I get with my brand sharp hepa filter.

Haven't do yet coz already came with one extra set of filters. Novita have 50% off their filters in earlier this year too. If they have in 2016 also then I may not order from TB, just get from them.

If have power meter just compare:
- new filter
- dirt filter
- w/o filter

Measured max with filter is 50W, without filter - 75W

Just went to courts nex & best denki junction 8. Neither has philips air purifier. Am looking for the $799 model recently advertised. Are philips purifiers that hard to find or just all sold out?

If possible measure the flowrate, filter shouldn't affect power consumption

color changing light

I have just recd my AX40 and had it installed at AUTO mode. But not sure what to make out the ever changing color green > orange> red. I have tried switching off the plasmaION mode but the changing color still persist. Is this normal?

Please get it into High, as it's recommended to keep filtration at minimum of 5 ACH. If possible + you have allergies, 8-10 ACH range.

The good thing is that the AX40 is amongst the quietest in its class, probably the most quiet.

Forget about the changing colour, it indicates the air quality. It's not very sensitive/accurate. Most people do not have a use for wanting to know the air quality. An extremely sensitive laser particle counter can be gotten starting from RMB 218-239.

How is this brand Blueair? I went best denki & the guy said philips OOS & anyway Blueair better supposedly swedish design & used by hospitals. He recommended the 203 model for $588.

My only concern is the noise. 56 decibels like quite loud leh. Also dunno if easy to find replacement filters or not. Strangely it uses just 1 filter unlike philips which has 3. Dunno is that a good thing or not. Lol

I'd rather that you buy a Xiaomi than a Blueair 203 @ 588.

This is the CADR as tested by 1 lab. The 303 has slightly higher coverage than the 203. I have heard the 203 in store, I can't say 100% for sure, but it shd be pretty loud.....pretty loud for 200+ m3/hr.

Another thing is that Blueair does not come with pre-filter built-in. If you want one, you'd need to DIY. But if you don't have a financial issue spending $200 per year on filters, then just forget about this point then.
