Hi,

Just done a chemical wash for my house aircon units.

Just wondering the price that i got charged for gas is reasonable

They topped up a system 2 mitsubishi 5 ticks compressor for me,

the gas psi went up from 98 psi to 158 psi.

I got charged $80 for this...

Is this reasonable?

I understand its already charged, but its more for my future knowledge purpose so i know if its a reasonable price or not.

Why do you need to top up your aircon gas if it is not leaking ?

I was charged $80 for topping up gas before too but that was due to leaking. But if I rem correctly, aircon gas seldom need to top up unless is leaking.

the gas over time drops due to usage i suppose

Kenna con I supposed. By your definition, it means you also need to top up gas for your refrigerator due to usage as well.

Your chemical wash is that $80 one, found through Facebook ad?

Get a reliable air cond service, they will tell u no need to top up. If needed, also free one.

uhh

i previously engaged one through facebook, which definitely i felt was scammy.

advertisement was $80 chemical wash with 1 free normal servicing for another unit.

so i engaged them to come last weekend.

When they came, they say that my compressor was too hot to do the unit chemical wash, and asked me to do the chemical wash for the compressor first, and said the unit didnt need chemical wash, just normal servicing will do.

Then they quoted me $120 for the compressor chemical wash,
and $80 to service the other 2 units.

I felt that they were ********ting me and didnt like the way that they did business.
So i told them that i didnt want their service anymore because over the phone i have upfront told them what i wanted, and asked if there is any other "tnc" involved in this promo which they said there is none, and no transport fee or anything else.

Then they wanted me to pay $30 for their labour of checking my unit and compressor. which i also rejected, coz that was not within the phone conversation.
Which led me to wonder how did this shop get good testimony from their customers on their services.

So anyway, since i was looking for the service of aircon cleaning,
i got a recommendation for this company that i end up going along with them.

What they quoted me was
$60 for mitsubishi system 2 compressor chemical clean
$80 for panasonic system 3 compressor chemical clean
$80 for 2 units of aircon unit chemical clean (only did 2 units as the other 3 units are mostly white elephants, not being much used at all)

I felt these prices were reasonable.
Just at the end they show me the gas pressure gauge for my mitsubishi compressor which 98psi was shown, and to top it up to 158psi, it costed me $80.

total damage $300

So... from you guys feedback, i guess what was paid for the gas isnt a norm.

mmmm, seems like tough to find a reliable aircon service now adays..

What are you guys go to aircon servicing company? and their quotes?

Yes, quite a number of not-so-good air con contractors in the market. Currently I am using Cosycool, I like their service and esp their jetspray though is only if its too dirty then they will do the jetspray. :s13:

Letscool also not bad as I have also used them before (helped me solve 1 easy problem by tightening the nut while another contractor say need to weld , alamak) , used them before cosycool but got once they stood me up maybe due to busy appts, I changed to cosycool since.

Normal washing - $30/unit, Jetspray is $50/unit for ur reference. :):)

I see a few companies do this

HDB charge $25 - $35 per servicing
condo charge >$35
landed charge >$40

How I know? The serviceman was flipping through invoices and I accidentally saw different companies and charges.

It's the same for many contractor jobs.
